Description
So, I think this piece is safe to post up now, given that originally it was created, as a contest entry for Shadowloo Showdown Tribute Art Book, but didn't make the final cut. Now, all of you get to enjoy it now, lol....Guess it's time to take you through the process of making this piece.
Top Left: Initial pencils and laying out the piece onto the art board. For me, this is the crucial part, I have to capture the proper energy and feel for both characters, which I think I was to, and was happy with it, at this point, so I proceeded forward with it.
Top Right: At this point, I start to tighten the piece by inking my main figures, dropping some weight lines, to make sure I'm able to maintain or just not lose too much of the energy from the penciling phase. It's at this point, that I looked at the background, and thought to myself, it's kind of empty back there, and that's when I added both Dan and Joe to the mix, which will give Terry, more of a reason to fight Sagat and avenge his friends.
Bottom Left: At this point, it's just a matter inking in the background elements and adding enough details to make it look like they're fighting it out in the streets. Small geeky flourishes like adding Dan's autographed photos and having Joe embedded in a fruit stand are just icing on the cake, lol.
Bottom Right: Once the image is cleaned up, and the pencils all erased, I scan it in and start to figure out the light source for both Sagat and Terry, making sure it's consistent with both of them, and then it's off to the races and finishing off the full piece...
And here is the fully final finished piece.
To be honest for me, what take the longest on pieces like this, during the colouring process are the background elements, because there are so many of them, that you have to worry about, making consistent with the rest of the piece.
As for, why I chose Sagat to face off with Terry Bogard, is probably due to the fact that I'm sure Terry would remind Sagat alot of Ryu. Terry is pretty much a wandering bum, who travels around the world, fighting people to get better and stronger, so in order to test himself, Sagat would want to do it against someone of Ryu's caliber. And to make sure that Terry would give it his all, Sagat would of course beat up, Terry's friend, Joe Higashi.
Here's a fun fact, that some people may not know, is that both Sagat and Terry Bogard, were created by the same person, Takashi Nishiyama, since he directed both the original Street Fighter game in 1987, and Fatal Fury in 1991.
Some of you, are probably wondering, why Dan is there too, my idea/backstory is that after the original SNK vs. Capcom tournament, Joe decided to take Dan out for a night on the town, in South Town and they ran smack dab into Sagat.

Awwww thanks. What can I say, when I draw a pin up featuring 2 of my favourite characters, coming at each other like 2 trucks on a collision course, I can't help it, lol.....

Hahahaha, thankfully with the colour, it makes it easier to distinguish between the 2 of them, if it were black and white, it would be a lot harder to tell those 2 apart, lol....
