Description
25th February 2011 - Sargodha, Pakistan. This was taken while riding a Honda CD-70 motorcycle - affectionately called, Road Prince; at 80 Km / 50 Mph, in pouring rain,
with my cousin who was driving Road Prince, his son comfortably sitting on Road Prince's fuel tank, and my son squeezed between the driver
and myself - with yours truly carrying the camera with one hand, and holding a safety (?) handle
that was mounted a little above Road Prince's tail light, with my other hand.
Oh, and neither of us were wearing helmets.
And then, it started to hail....
*****
I'm not a landscape photographer - not even close, and the editing leaves a lot to be desired....
I just wanted to share my experience; the sheer awe of witnessing a side of nature that was both
bewilderingly beautiful, and absolutely terrifying at the same time; for a simple city guy like myself.
Hope you like it.

For a drive by shoot and under the Road Prince circumstances this is a marvelous shot!
Next time you see something like this, please convince your cousin to stop for a minute.

And risk getting swept away by flash floods? Okay!

It feels like the lesser risk when I read the circumstances of this shot.

This story reminds me a lot of Turkey! What's amazing is seeing kids asleep on scooters like this.
Last week I saw a family on a scooter with the woman on the back carrying a baby - scary stuff :-/

Scary stuff indeed.
Even though my son was somewhat safe; sitting between his uncle and myself, I on the other hand, was a complete bundle of nerves the whole ride.
And then, this guy on a bike with two kids sitting behind him and a toddler on the fuel tank overtakes us....
Good grief!!!

I could say something about road safety & personal safety, but I won't.

We had no choice; either we stayed put and risk getting caught in the flood,
or we ride against the storm and get to higher ground.
Twenty minutes later, the whole place was underwater.

Nice to see the world from a motorcyclist's viewpoint again - sort of reverse blur.
Like the mood and the colours a lot.

Strange, dramatic, contained, seductive... In my opinion, a great image.

I wouldn't call being pelted by hail on a speeding motorbike and almost slipping over a wet, slippery roadkill entrails as fun.
But we had a good (nervous) laugh when we got home.
Thanks, Doug!

Faved...
I like the picture...!
it is a little surreal...
and it has great colour...
expressive...
Me likey...
I think:
I have seen this before...
the coming of rain...
and then I go in to the colours once again...
and forget...
Reading the story is another joy...
now the surreal foreground makes sense...
that is also what I have seen before...
I study the blurred shapes...
and forget...
Finally a quote from Pirsig:
"To repair Japanese Motorcycle require great peace of mind"...
Obviously it goes for riding too...!
As for the title...could bee: 5 Princes...!
Greetings Khuram...from Jakob.

This is whats known as an adventure
and I bet you had a mad grin on your faces as you tried to hide from the hail and take the shot?
Moments like that are hard to find in the city with all it's laws and restrictions,
so enjoy them while you can
and thanks for sharing
