I honestly cannot imagine a street photographer, amateur or professional,
who hasn't done it - photographed a person from behind, that is.
I know I have. Many times! And I never get tired of it.

That's a great question...maybe we like it because as photographers we are observers of the lives of others and so many times when out photographing with a friend...they leave us. I don't know how many times my wife got bored, with me stopping every few minutes to take a snap or two, and walked away

its interesting because a while ago--a photo was declined (not here) and i was advised that it isn't really an effective approach -because i shot from behind.
i honestly am becoming more and more confused as to what is acceptable as a good street shot.
i think-- there are too many authorities and not enough students.
i am not saying this to be confrontational...
just my thoughts.
we all just have to do our thing.
with or without external validation.

I agree with that advice.... well, somewhat.
While it may not be an effective approach to Street Photography (clubs these days are buried waist deep in Street photos shot from behind),
but when done right, the end result - like the works displayed above, can be astonishing!
It's all about how you approach the subject, I guess.
