Description (Please click to enlarge or download image to get full size!!!)

Hello everyone!

I've gotten many kind comments about my Pyro grenades and I would like to thank you!

It seems like a lot of people are curious as to how to put a Pyro cosplay together. I'm going through the steps now, so I thought it might help to take some pictures along the way. Maybe it'll make things easier for other people looking to do the same thing. I've learned a lot about it from seeing other peoples' WIPs, so I thought I'd put together one of my own.
If you have any questions about it, please let me know and I'll do my best to help you out.
The materials I used were:
3 mango juice cans (the size of Red Bull cans)
black and orange foam sheets
pipe cleaners
glue gun

I hope it helps! I wish you the best of luck in your art

Also, how much glue did you use? Did you only apply the glue to the edges of the craft foam, or did you lather the whole thing?

how did the pipe cleaners hold out for the pins of the grenade things? Pipe cleaners don't seem to be the sturdiest crafting material... Should I be worried about them bending out of shape or anything?

Thanks, I'm a little displeased with my grenades tho, (I blame me not knowing how to use craft materials, but hey, they were part of the last pieces I needed for the suit) I plan on remaking them or buying some real authentic but spent smoke grenades

Yeah, I spent a long while on the flamethrower, it's really heavy tho, but awesome to hold and look at, I had so many people at the con take pictures

Actually they look like flashbangs so if I buy a flash bang with no logos and paint the middle orange, is that good?

Making these as I type, a few minor changes, Copper wire instead of Pipe cleaner, and Loctite as opposed to hot glue. I used a thicker foam, and I'm not sure If i'm happy with it. It looks nice, but the seams don't want to lock. I'll upload pictures when I'm done

I look forward to seeing pictures. I'm glad it's still working with alterations, although I'm not sure what to suggest about the seams (is it having trouble locking because of the size of the foam, or is Loctite not strong enough to keep it in place? I've never used Loctite before.)

I wish I had found this guide earlier - I just recently created my own Pyro cosplay and the grenades were one of things that took me a while to work out how to build.

You're welcome! I thought it would be good for people to see how I put them together. There aren't very many tutorials on the Pyro, and it might help others branch off when doing their own.

i got the stuff for it today, i chose coke cans, (don't like red-bull) they're a bit wider. foam sheets weren't that expensive either!

i was wondering, what are the blue caps for? (picture 3)

D: but why is it blue?

MasqueradeLover In reply to PockyNightmare [2010-11-15 17:12:46 +0000 UTC]

Probably because of my really terrible camera flash. I don't really know why it turned out that way.

what kind of cans did you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MasqueradeLover In reply to Moose-sama [2010-11-15 01:33:36 +0000 UTC]

They were mango juice cans (picture for reference: [link] ). They are 250 mL- which is about the size of a normal Red Bull can.
