Kovu draws nearer to Pride Rock. The Pride Landers watch him distrustfully.

PRIDE LANDERS: What's he doing? Look at that scar on his face. [Kovu stops in front of Pride Rock. Simba glares down at him from the promontory.] *murmurs*

SIMBA: Why have you come back?

KOVU: Simba... I had nothing to do with–

SIMBA: You don't belong here.

KOVU: Please. I ask your forgiveness.

Kiara stands with the lionesses behind Simba.

KIARA: Daddy, please. Listen to him.

Simba looks over one shoulder at Kiara.

SIMBA: Silence! [Simba turns back to face Kovu.] When you first came here, you asked for judgment. And I pass it now!

KIARA: Daddy, please. Listen to him.

SIMBA: I know he's following in Scar's paw prints! And I must follow in my father's.

KIARA: You will never be Mufasa!

Simba's eyes widen in horror

PRIDE LANDERS: We don't want you! Judgment! Put him on trial! Judgment day is here! Yes! Judgment! Judgment!

SIMBA: (Simba looks back at Kiara) Exile!

Kiara and Kovu gapes up at Simba, then looks around him at the incited Pride Landers.

ELEPHANT: ♪ *trumpets* ♪

ZEBRAS: ♪ *bray* ♪

An elephant stamps its feet to the beat of the music. Monkeys pound their fists to the beat of the music.

MONKEYS: ♪ *screech* ♪

SIMBA: Leave now and never come back.

KIARA: Daddy, please…

SIMBA: I said now.

Many Pride Landers, who are gathered in rows, stamp to the beat of the music.

ELEPHANT: ♪ *trumpets* ♪

Simba glares down at Kovu and Kiara. They stare back in horror before looking behind him at the throngs of angry Pride Landers. Two oryx advance on Kovu and Kiara, heads bowed and horns pointed forward.

ELEPHANT: ♪ [from offscreen] *trumpets* ♪

PRIDE LANDER: ♪ Deception. [Kovu and Kiara back away slowly.] Disgrace. ♪

The oryx back Kovu and Kiara to the edge of a cliff until they are forced to turn tail and flee.

PRIDE LANDERS: ♪ Evil as plain as the scar on his face.♪

ZEBRA: ♪ Deception. ♪

ZEBRAS: ♪ An outrage! ♪

PRIDE LANDER: ♪ Disgrace. ♪

Several giraffes lift their chins haughtily.

GIRAFFES: ♪ For shame! ♪

Kovu and Kiara bound down from Pride Rock. A hippopotamus watches from a ledge as they dodge past several attacking snakes.

HIPPOPOTAMUS: ♪ He asked for trouble the moment he came. ♪

Kovu and Kiara land in front of several zebras, who rear onto their hind legs.

PRIDE LANDER: ♪ Deception! An outrage! He can't change his stripes! [Kovu and Kiara flee.] Disgrace! For shame! [Kovu and Kiara run through two rows of oryx, who butt their heads as they pass.] You know these Outsider types! [Kovu and Kiara run past several ostriches, who peck them.] Evil as plain as the scar on his face. See you later, agitator! [Monkeys throw rocks at Kovu and Kiara.] Just leave us alone! Deception! An outrage! [Kovu and Kiara dodge the rocks.] Disgrace! [Kovu and Kiara flee down several ledges.] For shame! Traitor, go back with your own! He asked for trouble the moment he came. See you later, agitator! [Simba watches as Kovu and Kiara run away. They turn their heads as a flock of birds descend on Kovu and Kiara from the air.] Born in grief, raised in hate, [Kovu and Kiara look up frantically at the birds. They periodically descend on and peck them.] helpless to defy his fate. [Kovu and Kiara flee into a grove of trees.] Let him run. Let him live. But do not forget what we cannot forgive! [Kovu and Kiara splash into a shallow pool and look back at Pride Rock sorrowfully. Simba glares back, his mane blowing in the wind.] And he is not one of us. [Below Pride Rock, the Pride Landers watch Kovu depart.] He has never been one of us. He is not one of us. [The Pride Landers shake their heads.] Not our kind. [Kovu and Kiara blink sadly.] Someone once lied to us. [Kovu looks down in the water, and his reflection ripples into Scar.] Now, we're not so blind, [Kovu and Kiara splash through Kovu’s reflection. They race to the other end of the pool.] for we knew he would do what he's done, [Kovu and Kiara clamber onto shore, their heads drooped.] and we know that he'll never be one of [Kovu and Kiara look over one shoulder at Pride Rock.] us. ♪

Simba glares at Kovu and Kiara. The Pride Landers shake their heads.

PRIDE LANDER: ♪ He is not one of us. ♪

KIARA: Goodbye, Simba. This is the last time I will see you alive. I'm surprised you've been kept around this long. Let’s go, Kovu. We have a big future together ahead of us.

Kovu and Kiara turn and stride away sadly. An antelope's head is interposed with footage of Kovu and Kiara walking away.

ANTELOPE: ♪ Deception. ♪

A zebra's head is interposed with footage of Kovu and Kiara walking away.

ZEBRA: ♪ Disgrace. ♪

Nala watches Kovu and Kiara go. She bows her head.

PRIDE LANDER: ♪ Deception. Disgrace. [Simba's head is interposed with footage of Kovu and Kiara walking away. Simba turns away from Kovu and Kiara.] Deception. ♪

Kovu and Kiara run offscreen. From afar, Rafiki watches them go. Rafiki puts a hand to his forehead and shakes his head sadly.
