- Mar-Vell, Maria Rambeau, and Monica Rambeau are amongst the ones able to escape when Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. is destroyed from the explosion because of the Tesseract’s energy left behind from the Tesseract’s activation which allowed Loki to steal the Tesseract, and use his scepter to enslave Selvig and other agents, including Clint Barton, to aid him.

- In response, Fury and Mar-Vell realize that with the first intergalactic threat having arrived, the time has come to call up the "Avengers Initiative” for the first time.

- Agent Natasha Romanoff heads to Kolkata to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner to trace the Tesseract through its gamma radiation emissions; Fury approaches Steve Rogers (who had been in suspended animation for 70 years) to retrieve the Tesseract; Agent Phil Coulson visits Tony Stark to have him check Selvig's research; and Mar-Vell calls Carol Danvers to provide intel on the Tesseract (Space Stone) because of her experience with it before and after getting her superpowers from the Tesseract’s energy from the Light Speed Engine.

- On the S.H.E.I.L.D. Helicarrier is where Carol Danvers, Mar-Vell, and Goose meets the other Avengers for the first time.

- Mar-Vell and Carol Danvers work with Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to locate the Tesseract.

- Carol Danvers goes with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers to confront Loki and they force him into surrender.

- Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and Carol Danvers bring Thor in to join the Avengers after when the trio intervene with Thor having stolen Loki.

- This time, with Mar-Vell’s wisdom, the Avengers are not as divided over how to approach Loki despite the revelation that S.H.I.E.L.D. plans to harness the Tesseract to develop powerful weapons as a deterrent against hostile extraterrestrials.

- When Loki's agents attack the Helicarrier, and the stress causes Banner to transform into the Hulk, Carol Danvers works with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers to restart the damaged engine; Thor attempts to stop the Hulk's rampage; Natasha Romanoff knocks Barton unconscious, breaking Loki's mind control; and Mar-Vell, Monica Rambeau, Maria Rambeau, and Goose help Nick Fury and Maria Hill to protect the S.H.E.I.L.D. - After when Loki escapes after killing Phil Coulson, both Nick Fury and Mar-Vell use Phil Coulson's death to motivate the Avengers into working as a team even while Carol Danvers mourns Phil Coulson’s death even though for a while before Nick Fury gives the motivation.

- When Loki uses the Tesseract and a wormhole generator Selvig built to open a wormhole above Stark Tower to the Chitauri fleet in space and launch his invasion, Carol Danvers and Goose rally with Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Thor, and Hulk in defense of New York City, and together the Avengers battle the Chitauri while Mar-Vell, Maria Rambeau, and Monica Rambeau help Nick Fury and Maria Hill from the S.H.E.I.L.D. Helicarrier.

- While Hulk beats Loki into submission and Natasha Romanoff makes her way to the generator, where Selvig, freed from Loki's mind control, reveals that Loki's scepter can shut down the generator, Carol Danvers destroys oncoming Chitauri Levithian while Goose uses her Flerken abilities to swallow Chitauri soldiers that try to corner certain citizens.

- With help from Carol Danvers, Tony Stark intercepts a missile heading straight for the city and takes it through the wormhole toward the Chitauri fleet where the missile detonates, destroying the Chitauri mothership and disabling their forces on Earth.

- When Tony Stark's Iron Man suit loses power and he goes into freefall, the Hulk saves him while Romanoff uses Loki's scepter to close the wormhole before Goose then swallows the Mind Stone right out of Loki’s scepter and replaces it with a replica of the Mind Stone.

- Known only to a select few including Carol Danvers, the rest of the Avengers, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Mar-Vell, the reason Goose swallowed the Mind Stone is because she could tell that the S.T.R.I.K.E. team section of S.H.E.I.L.D which was coming for Loki’s scepter is actually part of H.Y.D.R.A., and Goose was not going to let them have it because of the threats that H.Y.D.R.A. pose, and therefore, that is why Goose has never trusted certain parts of S.H.E.I.L.D.

- Carol Danvers and Goose join Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton in enjoying themselves on shawarma at a shawarma restaurant.

- While Carol Danvers and Goose along with the other Avengers go their separate ways for the time being, Mar-Vell and Nick Fury both agree that the Avengers will come back together the next time another intergalactic threat arrives.
