This is like, utterly mind-blowing.
The patience you must have...I'm jealous. I tried pointillism a few times, and though I did love the results, I don't have enough patience.

I have only recently started doing some digital art. I wanted to see if there was much of a difference when up close. There is a BIG differenc when you study the two mediums.I found that my cocky drawing was rougher and less organic when viewed up close. The other picture of cockys hanging upside down, can be made as large as you like, it is still smoother to me.
But!! this is only my opinion

Yeah, after I finish with this series I thought I might do life-sized portraits of 'peckers.

If you had read the comments, you'd have seen that it took two years. However, during those two years I read quite a few good books and no one was paying my to finish it, either. I could have taken less time, but I did not feel like rushing it, either. If I had started this as a commission it probably would have taken me a year or less ...

More so in person. To get an idea look at my "Grenache de Fuego", which is a 5x7, and that is the same point size that I used on this.

Simply an amazing job on this. After having done pointillism, I know how hard it can be. Can see why it took you so long. The details, textures and colors are prefect!

Very nice! It's amazing you had the patience and diligence to work on it for two years - I'd get distracted too easily, lol! I also like the extra splash of colour on the bird.

If you read the artist comments you'd see that the reason that it did take two years was because I got distracted. I read quite a few good books ....

Nice piece. Acrylics work great for pointillism color work. They hold down "dot gain" because of quick drying. Again nice work.

I did this one with watercolors, but one of the puffins I did in acrylics and I can't say that I love 'em. I'm used to oils and being able to mix colors right on the canvas or board, and acrylics don't give you that much time to do that. I might try them again, though ...
