Are you kidding me? I realize the non-manga/anime way is a bit harder and time consuming, but it's worth it. You've got to learn the correct anatomical proportions, regardless of what style you draw in (unless it's, let's say, chibi's, because.. let's be honest, they look like toddlers.)
You can't just 'skip' a couple of steps along the way, life doesn't work that way. I used to only draw manga/anime, that screws you over on the long run though, because you'll have great difficulty drawing anything but manga/anime.
That being said, this tutorial is great for beginners or someone who doesn't want to learn anything but manga/anime. Still your opinion, though, I just thought I'd share mine.
