Description Okay, this is still a w.i.p. but I had enough to feel safe to share it. Its a projects I started about two months ago. I haven't worked on it constantly and I kept adding and improving on my initial idea - which was building a "wizard's tower". The "wizard tower" idea became a "fortress" idea although I wanted to build a castle. Well, a castle is different than a fortress when comes to architecture. While a castle is built with an artistic sense as well as having defense in mind. a fortress is built more for defense and strength purposes and less for comfort and beauty.
So, since I was in a weirdly peaceful moment when I started this, I built a tower base and I covered it, bit by bit, with hand crafted bricks. It was strangely soothing. After a while 'tho, realizing the scale of the work I'd have to do (my idea extended by then) I decided to just "sculpt" brinks into long bars of foam and just glue them to the base. While the whole tower is built up brick by brick, on the gate I used the lather technique.
Working on the gates I decided that no fortress can exist without a moat. With that in mind I built a base to "rise" the whole gate and tower structure off the "ground". In my mind this becomes more complex as I build on it. You know how people say "if you build it, it would come"? Well, that is pretty much what happens to me. At this moment I'm building walls to surround the main tower, with smaller towers here and there and I have already planned for barracks, stairs up the walls, the moat and a second, larger wall around this one, with a whole medieval town living between the first wall and the second wall.
When this is done, I want to leave it outside. To make it look more realistic, I plan to cover the whole thing in a cement soup to make it look stone like. If anybody has more experience or a better idea how to make this look like stone and resist to the elements, all advices are welcomed.

I was just wondering, what kind of foam are you using for this?

Its a hard polyester foam used to insulate floors. Its not very expensive and it comes in sheets about 6 mm thick. You can find many variation of thickness in all construction materials stores.

Not difficult, all you need its just patience, hot glue, foam and an exacto knife.

I'm impressed. That would've taken a lot of work, time, and patience. Good job!

What are you going to use it for?

When I started it I wasn't planning to do anything with it, I just wanted to build something. Now I plan to do a rockery somewhere in my garden and set it there. Maybe even arrange for a rain basin so there will be a small cascade near it also.

I guess I'll have to see where this is going while doing it.

Looks really good, nice work! The tower reminds me of the dragon tower in Heroes of Might and Magic

Honestly, I wasn't thinking of any design when I started and even now, what I have in mind is more of a fuzzy sketch than a design.

WOW. This is one heck of a project you've got going there. The tower looks really cool, as does the castle. Good luck on the rest of the project.

Thank you, its gonna take a while since lately my time was rather strict but I'll come with another set of images as soon as I'll have some good deal of improvements ready.
