Description I have been asked for a continuation to my armor tutorial, regarding blemishes and scratches. I don't know how good this covered the desired subjects, its more like a "how I do it" than a tutorial but I do hope it will help some of you. If you use it, maybe post a link to it under your work and I would surely enjoy a link to your image to see how you adapted it to your needs. Happy holidays!

P.S. Do let me know if there is need for clarification on the subject or if there is something that could add to the tutorial.

Looks pretty good. The only thing I would say is that it would be good to stay away from soft brushes when painting things like holes.

My bggest trouble is I cant draw the cuts properly from the first step. On mine drawing they look like... I just used a brush and made a line, not scratch.

Anyway, it was very helpful i will just give up on scratches.

MatesLaurentiu In reply to Aexalven [2012-08-25 10:08:40 +0000 UTC]

There are actually two lines to make a cut. One of light color and one of a darker shade, to create the illusion of depth. I hope this helps.

My pleasure. I'm glad this end up by helping so many people. I never thought my explanations are good or detailed enough but I'm glad they are more than enough. I am stimulated to do more of these.

Are your custom brushes available for download?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MatesLaurentiu In reply to twostepwaltz [2012-02-04 21:06:40 +0000 UTC]

No, but I could send them to you or post them here. I don't know if the PM has an attachment system. They are nothing out of the ordinary 'tho, just a few brushes I created for hair and leafs and such, other than that, I mostly use a hard brush, a soft round brush and a chalk brush for most of my pieces.

MatesLaurentiu In reply to Lyn-Kat [2011-12-21 21:10:24 +0000 UTC]

You have to, I don't know how efficient this tutorial is with a mouse

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lyn-Kat In reply to MatesLaurentiu [2011-12-21 21:38:11 +0000 UTC]

Tried speed painting with a mouse before.

Simply not easy, since you don't get pen pressure through it.
I think I may try it though with that new Wacom Inkling once it goes on sale.
I can draw on paper and it already be line art when I scan it to the computer.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MatesLaurentiu In reply to Lyn-Kat [2011-12-22 09:04:36 +0000 UTC]

You can surely paint with the mouse If you have Photoshop or Painter. I've seen works of art in the purest form done just with a mouse. Its just hard as hell compared with what you can do with the cheapest wacom.
