Description
I have been asked how I work out my scratches and since my previous tutorial seemed to have helped a few people, I thought of adding this one to them. Try it on and good luck!Related content

This is really good, but I am a begginer and I have some questions.
1. ¿What is a brush with opacity on? I mean, I know I can change the opacity of a brush or anything really but I don't understand exactly what did you mean by that.
2. ¿How do I make the chalk brush to look that way? When I paint with it, it looks really awful and plain, ¿do I need to change somenthing?
3. ¿What brush did you use for the first step?
Thank you very much
Note: My mother language is spanish, I hope I wrote that right.

Questions are always welcomed, especially when they are so easy to explain. D
I'll take them one by one, in the order you asked them:
1. When you select the brush tool in PS, on the option bar you have the ability to tweak the opacity of the brush (which is set usually at 100%). Next to it there is a small icon with a circle and a pencil touching its middle. If you need variation in opacity according to your tablet's pressure, you need to have that pressed and active. Basically, that means "opacity on" in my tutorials. Here is where is positioned: photoshopcafe.com/wp-content/u…
2. You make the chalk brush working like I did by doing the same step as in the previous point. Just have that little icon pressed down and all your brushes opacity will depend on the pressure from your tablet instead using their own standard opacity preset.
3. For the first step on the scratch tutorial I used a simple round brush but I deactivated that opacity setting used in the both point above.

No, actually I'm self taught. But don't mistake, I studied as much as most students do, only my studies ranged from history to mythology to occult, all that beside the study of light, color and form I still learn about (and probably will keep learning until the end of my life).
