Good tutorial but sad that the end is so .. speedy? It's too " just put texture" but the texture make all the tree and impossible to see HOW you make it ...

Well, this was a tree tutorial. You could very well stop at step four and have your nice looking tree. What you are asking for is a bark tutorial or maybe leafage tutorial. If that's the case I can help although leafage is rather easy to do with a custom brush. You just layer different color leafs on a layer, then lock the layer and do some shading with a soft brush set on Multiply and a low opacity (about 30% should do).

It's not realy the part with the leaves the "problem" but the step 5 : nothing realy is tell about how you make the light, it's not an evidence for every one ^^

Actually the light is established in step 4 if you follow the shadow. One light step its pretty easy and nature its the best teacher when it comes to light. Each sunny day is a beautiful lesson. Then you have the cloudy days with the scattered light and your own house environment for multiple light sources. Sometimes I feel like we live in a huge tutorial really.

Autumn tree, so I skipped over almost a whole year. I'm a Time Lord and I didn't even knew it.

You are more than that, you can paint even a tree, which doesn't exist

Oh, I didn't mean it that way.. I wanted to extend your abilities, Time Lord, into Superior Unpredictable Gardener with fantasy so wide, that even Mother Nature looks over your shoulder

Sometime I feel like the Death in the Diskworld series, trying to build his own garden.

LOL nice simile To be honest (however favourite and adored character the Death is to me), I have to assure you, that your world is definitely more "functional"

I guess so, but I never have been immortal before.

Eveqi In reply to MatesLaurentiu [2013-12-26 22:06:30 +0000 UTC]
Well, from the perspective of eternity some things might be too detailed to be noticed, like the stone soap or towels you can't bend in the Death's bathroom I suppose you wash your towels more often than on the edge of ability to bend
Now seriously, what I wanted to depict is my admiration to your fantasy world, where all clothes and armor are wearable (..and very suitable), all characters have unique faces (really rare to be seen amoung painters, believe me) and all weapons are true, dangerous, no children toys randomly wrapped in strings or wooden decorations just on effect
Oh and aren't all painters actually immortal already?

I actually thought a lot about the soap and the towel in death's bathroom and I think that is actually how any object will act if the time would stop. All molecules frozen in the moment, making the things incredible stiff. As for the artist's immortality, its not something the artist has but rather what the artist is given through his work by coming generations.

Hmm, that's really a great thought If molecules would freeze, all the tiny movement of electrons would stop too, the object could actually be called really dead.. till then there's still some life, in stones, in cloths we wear, in dried flowers, even in cut wood or dead bodies Fortunately the Death has his Albert who brings the necessary life into his house.. and living soap and towel
You are of course right about painter's immortality, still you have the unique ability to become immortal by your work

MatesLaurentiu In reply to Eveqi [2013-12-27 12:41:22 +0000 UTC]
That was my thought exactly. In a place where time doesn't flow things would naturally be frozen in place. Since both Death and Albert live out of time, they might both have the capacity to change their state (somehow). As for immortality, that would be great! So many things to learn and so many things to see. The only down part is the loss of family and friends - and deal with that forever.

Hmm, you could watch light as it blasts through the air, slow it enough to see how it bends and paints everything so that it becomes visible to eyes, it might be a wonderful view You could stop fireworks and let them shine like strange night flowers, you could build carpet of mushroom spores levitating in the air slightly above the ground forever, or capture falling stars to make a private sky vault (arch), you could watch invisible vibrations caused by bird songs, you could store rainbows for shady days and raindrops in the air to have a natural shower every day
But you are right, what would it be good for, when an immortal couldn't share it with a beloved person, even the most beautiful thing becomes boring and sad. Maybe therefore even Death had a daughter and the more I sympathize with him, that he let her go, when her time finished. It requires a great strength and wisdom. The more admiration to anyone, who lives long and still feels love to people and isn't loathe them even when he/she can read in them like in open books.
