Description
TW: Anyone that can not take any sort of gore/wound/blood should not look at this deviation. If you have dealt with self harm I also advice you not to look at this deviation.
In the end you make your own decisions.
-------------------------
I notice that people tend to draw wounds and scratches bleeding very heavily (and this could happen, sure.. but most of the time other stuff happens! : D)
I will talk about bleeding more in the next tutorial which will be about cuts. This one is just for scratches~
I happen to know a lot about wounds and I thought: why not use this knowledge to teach others something??
Wounds are as varied as humans, and so is skin colour. don't be afraid to mix around with other colours.
There is a lot of browns and reds in wounds. (Green and yellow if a wound get's infected)
It's important to remember that a colour never consists of just that colour. It will always be a mixture of different hue's and saturation.
If you're not sure which colours you should use just try some out, you will see if it does not work and you can just press ctrl z. Just try until you're pleased.
Everything is drawn in 'mypaint' which is a free program that takes only a minute to install.

Wow, this rocks man! it's actually very helpful, even though you don't work it out step by step! To be honest, I like tutorials like these better than the step by step ones, this leaves room for your own creativity Great tutorial!

thanks! (:
Indeed, and this is less gross than having to look at pictures. I figured this would be helpful because pictures are just.. yeah they are actual wounds etc. People don;t like to look that stuff up :'D

True that, I had not even thought of that! But I must say the wounds you drew here are quite realistic as well (which is definitely worth a compliment)! Good thing you tagged them as triggering content

Never heard of mypaint before. I'll probably go check it out this weekend ^^
You did a great job on drawing these scratches. Lots of people could learn from this, to make more interesting wounded people/animals instead of always the bleeding-to-death drawings ='D

I basically use mypaint for everything (':
Sometimes I use SAI but mypaint is more like painter, it has barely any functions though, you can't even select stuff. But you can draw and there's layers so that's all I need.
Indeed! people in drawings often bleed to death with wounds that would not even cause them to bleed to death P:

Aah that sounds pretty good actually. I catch myself on selecting and scaling stuff a lot and I really want to practise a bit more on getting everything right from the start (and I like painty programs ^^ I already found SAI pretty awesome and paintish)Β
And it's getting really 'clichΓ©' as well, like you wouldn't even be able to see if that character is wounded if there wasn't blood. It's a lot more impressive if you can make someone looks 'hurt' without blood.

It's a lot more paintish than sai. I think of sai as a program to make neat lines :'D
It's indeed great for practice and I can work like I would with traditional paint.
Indeed. Anyone can make a red stripe. Scabs are a lot more interesting.
