Description
The Lake District, Christmas 2007.This is a bit of an experiment really; not my usual style. I wanted to see if I could get that B/W vignetted look.
Location is near Seatoller at the top of Borrowdale valley.
Taken with a Nikon D80, Tokina 12-24mm lens and Velbon Ultraluxi F tripod.
Single exposure!
Edited with channel mixing, contrast, etc.

This is really amazing stuff. I'd love to develop the skills it takes to create something like this. For digital photography are there any books (or web sights) you find particularly usefully?
By the way, this picture reminds me of the movie the Illusionist. The whole mood and feel. there's a real antiqued quality that they put into the film akin, I think to this photo. Great experiment!

wrt references, I've got a background in computer graphics so a lot of it I've worked out from that really. I've certainly used various tutorials and websites though; I'll try and find some.
Maybe I should write a tutorial.

Yeah, I deliberated over how much sharpening to apply for quite a while. I decided to not apply any as the image is quite soft but maybe I should have put some in!
