That's a light machinegun.
The rifles used by the Wehrmacht for sniping was the Karbiner 98 - "Hoch Turm" model and Gewher43

Umh. MG34 to be exact ^^
MGs are wery useful stuff in sniping too. MG34 can be used semi automatic and sometimes the quantity beats the quality with full automatic fire.

no they're not, the 7.92 round is too light and the weapons accuracy in general isnt that good, its too heavy to be held acuratly without a tripod anyways, there were not mountable scopes available for LMGs untill said suposid founder Carlos Hathcock aligned a scope on his .50 cal emplacement thus creating his own makeshift M107 (god i love that guy) aaaand sorry but the older MG34's didnt have single shot capabilities
