Description
My mom and I watched Avatar together. We laughed together at the funny bits, cheered at the cool parts, cried at the sad points... but at this moment, we were completely silent.
We realized that the second season, and everything that had happened in it, was leading up to this one scene. Culminating simply in a choice. One little... yet immense choice. Like a light switch, the difference between light and dark.
We were on pins and needles... the edge of our seats. "He had to choose Iroh... right?" We both had to be thinking in unison- I know we were... but we remained silent.
Then Zuko chose Azula.
...
My mouth fell and I looked to my mom. Her eyes went wide.
"No," she said aloud.
"No," she repeated. Her tone turned pleading, as if she were willing it not to happen.
I was shocked.
It's moments like these that make me love this show so much!
Avatar belongs to Mike, Bryan and Nick. Art belongs to me.

EDIT: fixed the shading around Iroh's face and beard.
Thanks for looking

your Dramatic lighting is awesome!
This is where I dropped my jaw. The show can't be any better!
Most shows' plots are predictable, but not Avatar.

Thank you
Nope, I've watched the series about five or six times now. I was just telling a story about the first time that I watched it.

I know, I was SOO surprised when he chose Azula! it's based on his intense need for connection and acceptance in his family, but he always regretted the choice. I love how they use the "light and dark" thing throughout the show: this scene, twee and lah (the fish), the scarred side of his face vs the "clean" side, and I'd even say Aang vs. his Avatar state--he fears it at first.
Woo that was fun! haha I love analyzing Avatar, it really has a lot of depth, especially in each character

Yep. If you really look at the show under a microscope, there are a lot of things going on that are much deeper than usual for a cartoon.

So true, and it's nice because it's not just one or two characters: each character has demons of the past and present, and multiple at that. They each have their problems--there's nothing shallow or grey about any of them. Love it! ^^

Wow, that really shows how amazing ATLA is. It's so easy to forget it's a kids show. It gets so deep, and you can't help but get really involved when watching it. I started watching the series last May, and I watched all three seasons in two weeks.

I started last fall and I watched them all in a few weeks. Then I bought them and watched them again. Then I got my friends into it and I spent the night at one of their houses and we watched the whole series in just two days... That was an experience.
It's like a good book that I just can't put down or stop rereading, except it's a show of course.
