the "Finish Avatar" project week three.....
Uggggghhhh.... my scanner went from scanning images in 400dpi in the matter of minutes to 300dpi in just under an hour. I have no idea what's going on... but It's really annoying.
I used to scan an image twice. Once for the bare pencils (which I would change color and print out for easy inking), and again for the inks (it makes it easier to separate the pencils from the line-art). If I tried that now... I would waste 2 hours JUST scanning it... and I don't have the time to do that.
On the upside... It's forcing me to learn how to ink digitally and I'm making strives in that aspect (judging by how unrecognizable past attempts have been). I've also tried cell shading again, tell me what you think.
So... I'll probably follow this new format with future pics until I get my scanner figured out.
I'm a bit annoyed.

Love that moment!! But horrible Azula for making them fail!
It reminded me of when in book 2, Aang finds the dai le's (don't know how to write it ^^) secret under the lac facilities. We think he is going to find Appa, but gets trapped and Zuko frees Appa. The same thing happend here. Zuko confronted his dad and Aang found Azula.

You're right. It's frustrating that Aang finds trouble in these situations, and Zuko finds what Aang is looking for. What I find most interesting in both of these cases (and, in extension, when Zuko as the "Blue Spirit" rescues Aang in the first season) is that both Zuko and Aang are searching for the same thing. In the first season, it's Aangs freedom; in the second season, it's Appa; in the third season, it's the Fire Lord... which foreshadows the end of third season: That Aang's and Zuko's purpose will be the same.
You know what? There's another instance where this is true. When both Aang and Zuko are searching the past to learn about Sozin and Roku. Wow... this is more than just foreshadowing, this is a theme of the show. If we looking even further we'd probably find a lot more of these instances.

Another sweet pic of the project. I love this scene, probably one of my favs of the episode. Azula taunting Sokka is cool and you've drawn them perfectly. Awesome job again Matt, can't wait to see more of the project.

Yeah... It looks good, but it takes a million time longer to ink digitally. Because, since it's so easy to change things, there's no excuse not to do it right. So I end up drawing the same line like 50 times until I get every pixel just how I want it.
I hope that's something that will become faster with time...It's a lot of fun, and I'm glad that I can produce something I like a lot instead of being dissatisfied with certain elements. Thanks!

I've been wrestling with my scanner for a little more than a week now... so, everything from "Avatar: Out of his Time" forward in my gallery is 100% digital. Looking at the positive, it is really helping me.
