uh... actually counting the "wacky japanese episodes" (that do have a spanish dub xD ) it would be 3 times O.o First is the normal one we know on the movie. The second is on japanese season 4 and the final one is on japanese season 6 Transformers Victory... well, they said he had to die but was just totaly changed and became a complete different robot and that Optimus Prime was based of one that appears on japanese season 5 TF Head Masters.
Well,... Armada, Energon and Cybertron are sequels only in the english/spanish version... they are completly different stories on the japanese one... also the robots don't look alike at all...
Why is Rodimus there when he's not an Optimus? O_o?

Also from what I've read, didn't japan try to retroactively merge the unicron trilogy as one continuity? though not too well heh.

Actually not... only american's merged all Unicron sagas. In japan they are different series. Like what they did with the Macross series where the english ones has flashbacks and some modifications so they can be sequels.

On the Galaxy Force, from what I've read, the DVD release of the series retcons it to be connected to the other two series, so it seems in the end Takara decided it should be connected.

I was kind of glad to see the movie come along. I was getting tired of hearing all the "PRIMAL IS TEH WIN" for like sixty billion years. >.>

I grew up on the originals, but I HAVE to go with Primal.
How many "years" did it take Prime before he beat Megatron? Oh, wait. Megatron killed him.
Primal had three seasons and gave his Megatron a beatdown WHILE HE HAD THE ORIGINAL'S SPARK. Two -count 'em- TWO Megatrons at once. Plus a freakin' WARSHIP.
Now THAT'S a Prime.

I was too young at the time to watch the show, I was born in 86 so I was able to catch some reruns in the early 90s. I really got into Transformers when Beast Wars came out then later on I realized how terrible it really was, thats when I tried getting back to the original story.

Well,... I was like 3yo when I watched G1 so I got all excited about Beast Wars cuz it was transformers 3d and it was related to G1 but wasn't sure until much later when I knew Beast Wars is a direct sequel to G1 ^^ I only hate Beast Machines... all other were cool O.o

Beast Machines doesn't count as a Transformers show, and they morphed, not transform. Rattrap looked completely stupid too then.
But nothing can beat Megatron as a T-Rex, that was badass.

Of course it counts as a Transformers show. I mean Beast Wars is a direct sequel of G1 and Beast Machines is a sequel to Beast Wars Transmetals so technicaly Beast Machines is the ending of G1. I just hate they changed the names in the spanish dub... I mean on all Beast Wars seasons they translated their names and on Beast Machines they left the english ones (pronounced in english btw). So yeah since it's a sequel of the original Beast Wars story then it do count as a transformers show.
Speaking of weird transformers shows... was there a transformers show with humans that turn into animals? I mean I've seen some toys of humans that go into animals under the name Transformers (forgot the full name)... I though they looked ugly xD

I knew Beast Wars was a direct sequel to G1 when they found the ship and showed the great Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots sleeping. It was insane when T-Rex Megatron tried to kill Prime, TIME PARADOX!
I think you may be talkng about Animorphs. I haven't seen any Transformers toys that had humans transforming, but yeah, I bet that would be ugly.

Well... since Beast Machines is a sequel to that one it does count... specialy since G1 Optimus (and I think Megatron, too) appear there as statues or something... Yeah, I remember that episode about G1 Prime on Beast Wars... I was all like "OMGOMGOMG!!!1one the original Optimus on 3d!!!

Well... there was a ghost possesion on Beast Wars and that one is american xD and well... the spark of the robots are their soul. I don't remember on what Transformers show was it but Megatron was thinking "why not blow up earth and collect the sparks of all humans to create a big army of decepticons?" then one of his minions was like "but human sparks are too fragile we wouldn't be able to use them

Well, I never watched it either but I've read about it somehwhere when I was trying to figure out if Transformers was anime or american cartoon xD until I found out it was a collab until season 3 then it turned into american season 4 and japanese season 4,5 and 6 and that the other TF shows (like armada, energon, cybertron) were mostly japanese.

Unicron Trilogy and G1 Optimus, definately. Unicron got me back into the Prime, and had one of the better voices for the character, while... well, you just don't FU(& with Original Prime! He's... well, he's G1!
