I think it's interesting the fact that while the Optimus Primes are somehow alike, the megatrons instead tend to differ as most as possible from each other.
I think I had to vote for the RID one because I love transformations and that megatron has A LOT of! Plus ones is a giant hand. giant hands/gloves are a classic! You get to see them in many videogames and animated series. I think they are all spiritual descendents of the Addams Family "Hand". That guy (he's surely a guy, because in one episode he is dating a gracefull female hand called "Lady Fingers") was cool. I loved the way he could apparently teleport from any hole to any hole of his size (in one episode he is coming out from a tree).
And I don't mention how stupid is a transformation into a gun for a a guy that is supposed to be the leader of an whole race of robots. He always need someone to be used by when he turns into alt-mode.

G1 actually gives a dman about his loyal troops, and the movie one was frozen too long to do much damage. I just laugh at the Beast Wars one.

Beast wars megs all the way, he had so many lines that caused mass hysteria and a few that were simply epic.
Also he had contingency plans for his contingency plans, got to admire that.

Generation 2 (namely because prefer Megatron as a tank opposed to a gun) or Beast Wars Megatron. G1, Animated and Armada are close seconds.
I didn't like the RID Megatron much (his design is cool and all, but he's a lazy egomaniac much like Serpentor from GI JOE) and the movie Megs was kinda fugly IMO, I don't know I wasn't a big fan of the live-action movie because it put too much focus on the humans rather than the Autobots and Decepticons.

I dunno, BW meg's a genius, G1's hyper-agro all the time, movieverse turns into a freakin' jet, RID megs is a twelve-changer, and G2's got a point, so.....i'd vote for all except G1.

i'd say beast wars, compared to the other megatrons, the beast wars one risked destroying all of time and space on a gamble when assasinating the original optimus prime, but i wouldn't be surprised if many will whine to me saying the G1 is better for no reason. i like him too, but i just think the BW one had a more menacing plot

Well, I didn't care much for RID Megs, G1 and BW Megs for sure. Sadly, last kid I talked to about Megs, they only knew the live-action movie and said "Optimus' Brother was pretty cool bad guy". I didn't have the 'rage' to argue or discuss it. So G1 and BW, hands down.

Beast Wars Megatron is the best. why? A. Awsome Transformations without being a Galvatron, B. Has a a unstoppable killing machine as a soldier (Rampage i mean but Waspinator counts as unstoppable), C. Best plans for world and universal conquest and D. He can tolerate Inferno's worshipping without blasting him.

RID scared me. Really. G1, 2007 and Armada had great voices.

I have to say, BW Megatron's quote wins it for me.
But darn it!!! No Animated Megatron.
He combines all the best features of G1 Megs and Movie Megs
i.e:
Incredibly huge and powerful, very intelligent and ruthless, has an alternate mode that is actually useful and is smart enough to realise that letting Starscream live so he can betray him *again* 20 years down the line would be a mistake.
Anyway, in this order, my favorite Megatrons;
1. Animated- for reasons mentioned above.
2. BW/BM- for having one of the biggest plans of any Megatron and practically bloody succeeding.
Oh and for his yessssssssss.
3. Movie- for being so goddamn ruthless and I actually like his creepier less Human design.
4. G1- this guy will always be a classic, he was an awesome villain, even if his alternate mode was less awesome.
5. Armada- he was decent enough but the whole 'repaint makes me Galvatron thing became annoying'
6. RID- for all his alternate modes and supposed 'uber-power' he got beaten almost more often than G1 Megs.
(I can't really comment on G2, I never read it).
