Just a little thumbnail from my sketchbook that's been begging me to flesh it out.A relativly small size two seated scout walker. Suitable for screening activities and operations .vs. troops. Much like msot light armor vehicles it can be armed with a mix of chain guns, rockets, and light anti-armor missiles. The mech is technically a tripod. The forward leg is lowered for mounting and maintenance. Allowing the machine to get low enough for both proceedures to be done with no special setup. In case of the need to get up quick, the foreleg has enough pnuematic spring to bounce the machine completely upright instantly.
Half the fun of drawing things like this is the fluff history that blabbers out of your brain while you're making it.

reading your description makes me think that some innovative (desperate) commander developed a tactic of running full-speed at a target they can't take down with the cannon, and triggering the 'maintenance leg' to knock it over. Your mileage may vary based on targets mass and stability. Also, an engineering variant using it to clear (knock over) obstacles.

Looks like something out of Gear Krieg. Which is awesome since that game is all but forgotten at this point.

This is an awesome design. He reminds me of the Flea from BattleTech, but in a more realistic fashion. Love the details on the legs!

This is one of those designs that inspires the imagination. Or at least it inspires mine! I look at it and think, "Wow, I want to do this in 3D!" Something more nimble and practical than the Star Wars scout walker and more plausible than something from BattleTech.

This is so cool! What a great design. Of only somethign like that was real. I would cause mega mass destruction with it.
