Okay, so the name's more of an inside joke than anything, but I wasn't sure what else to call this.

Another commission from this slot set done! All three of the commissions from this slot set so far have challenged me in different ways, which on the one hand is super stressful, but on the other hand I really appreciate because it means I'm going outside of my comfort zone and learning a lot!

I had never done storm clouds with Copics before, the dynamic angle was definitely a new one for me, drawing soaked fabric and hair was an entirely new challenge, and it's been literally years since I've attempted a drenched landscape background. (Plus that weapon. As I've said a million times: inorganic shapes are my nemeses. )

Despite all of the challenges, I'm really happy with how it turned out! I learned so much and was able to apply it. Plus: I got paid to use my ugliest marker. That's always a treat.

For the character on the ground who's having a very bad day I was essentially given free reign with the design, but the word "pirate-like" was used, which lead to me spending the entire commission process singing weird made-up verses of "Mr. Sandman" (as "Mr. Pirate") to myself while my birds were unable to escape the acoustic onslaught.

Drawn on 9x12 Strathmore marker paper with Copic markers, white gel pen, and white pencil crayons. Samus and Metroid are owned by Nintendo and Mr. Pirate is owned by the commissioner.
