You use a mouse or a tablet? I know there is a special option for mouse users.

I don't know them... Maybe updating your tablet or re-installing Paint Tool SAI.

It's on Oekaki (ChibiPaint) but it could also work perfectly on PTSAI.

Huuuuumm... this looks interesting. I have never used PTSAI nor know much about it, but I hear a lot of artists using this SAI thing.
But I'm not sure I understand what's special about how this line art was made. What does the Stroke Stabilizer do compared to something more standard? Does it do something like find the average path of a line after you made it to reduce a shaky deviation from the intended path? Or does it restrict how sharp of a curve a line can make?
I'm really horrible with Line Arts, including Photoshop's pen tool, so this really intrigues me. o.o

MBLOCK In reply to FuzzyAcornIndustries [2010-08-22 13:23:42 +0000 UTC]
Hum, I'll try to explain the very best I can but it's simply makes your lines you make very smooth. It stabilize your stroke so it don't look shaky or all fuzzy. If I'd made the very same lineart with PTSAI without the Stroke Stabilizer it would look really shaky, fast made, the curves would be most all wrong, the round would not be looking so round etc.
Do you have PTSAI? Trying is the best way to understand, if you don't have it; send me via note your e-mail address and I'll send you a free PTSAI.

Actually, I'm not really interested in getting a new program right now. The last few I tried (GIMP and MyPaint) all failed to do what I was told they would do for me (which were different things then what you're discussing above).
I figured if I had an idea of what your feature you used does, I might figure out how to get Photoshop to do it. I see some possible settings I might try and mess with in the future to see if they do what you described here.
Thanks for your help and offer. ^^ I hope this helps me make better cartoons in the future. So I saved it to my computer with all my other tutorials.

Question: How would this work if I only have photoshop?

MBLOCK In reply to starfire-wolf [2010-08-22 13:25:18 +0000 UTC]
I've never tried Photoshop, but I'm pretty sure Photoshop have a very similar fonction. Look for a tutorial of your version of Photoshop on dA, I'm sure lot's of people will explain this little tip!

Aah! I really don't know why it doesn't want to work for MAC, plus I've searched everywhere for a good patch but... Aah I'm sorry! (Though PTSAIis really light and un-laggy, maybe you could put it in a portable or small computer?

I have just a laptop I guess that is a small computer XD
I think because SAI is a japanese program, and most of them have PC's.

how do you smooth and does Paint have it or can i download what you got?
π: 0 β©: 1
MBLOCK In reply to SeriesArtiststarter [2010-08-21 23:23:27 +0000 UTC]
It's a fonction that PTSAI already have. Double-click on the Pen and select Stroke Stabilizer. Put it to the level 15 or less. It makes your lines very smooth and un-shaky.
