Samus siempre fue como la muestran en Metroid other M, que los demas la hayan visto como una maquina de guerra sin emociones es problema de los fans, pero no es asi, si lo fuera no habria dejado vivir al primer metroid que se encontro.

Other M is the Twilight of video games.
Except that metaphor doesn't really work, because then there would have to have been installments of Twilight made before the real ones where Edward originally was a freaking awesome vampire who doesn't ever go into the sun period, and Bella is only mentioned and implied to be a likable character.

i still do not understand why Samus Aran should be so devastated by the baby metroid's death.
to be fair, it was quite of a tear jerker that the last one of a species Samus spent most of her time exterminating ironically sacrificed its life for her, that would probably shake Samus, but it was a metroid, nothing more than an animal, if she mourned it in the way you mourn when you lose a pet, that would have been ok, but grieving as if she lost a son, that was from the writers like using a jackhammer where you needed a scalpel.

The gameplay was alright for me. The story didn't bother me until Commander Whatshisface wouldn't let me use a fireproof suit in the lava area. I can understand taking away my nukes, but come on!

To be honest some times i prefer the main character not to have a personality, the "silent strong" type. The Prime series is my favorite series of games, after all the years i've been playing and the variety of games, thats quite a thing.

Ugh... Troll picture is trollin' hard. Just cuz she was actually given an actual personality, makes her a defenseless wuss? I for one, unlike everybody else and IGNnorant, loved the game. D:

Read it and weep.
She wasn't given a personality at all. She was made entirely emotionally dependent on a male character - She wasn't given a personality, all she was given was "Adam says THIS. Adam says THAT" (not a personality) and Adam didn't even give two shits about her.

Meh... That won't change me being a fan of the series. And if you played fusion, that's pretty much how she thought in fusion, except in much more detail.

I played it a long time ago, I don't really remember.
Yeah, the difference is that in fusion she could actually make a decision for herself without being shot in the fucking back for it.
Lesson #1 in any healthy relationship of any kind: The person you love does not shoot you. They do not recklessly endanger you for no reason. They don't treat you like shit for being independent.

*nods* Fusion is my fav handheld metroid game, with the return of samus being my second. And I agree. I only commend the game for the story. What I was getting at was how every body was bitching about her getting a personality not based on fans PERIOD. It's not like this whole game changes every other DVD and cart based metroid game on the planet, does it? I think of her as caring, daring, and a strong woman, with other M showing her in her younger years, where she is a little younger and more prone to stupid decisions.

tanuki-kage In reply to Copjones1994 [2011-12-07 23:00:16 +0000 UTC]
It isn't in her younger years at all! The game takes place after several Metroid games.
And even if it was during her younger years, there's a difference between showing her as a young rebel and purely infantilizing her into a 1950s sexist caricature throughout the entire fucking game. The entire story is basically "Oh, the woman wants to be strong and independent? Nope, she can't survive without a man telling her what to do every step of the way because women are stupid and weak willed. Oh, and they actually like it when men treat them like shit. Domestic abuse? No such thing! Did we mention Samus is a girl?"
I've met women who have been victims of both physical and emotional abuse so the story just plain fucking disgusts me. How fucking DARE anybody treat the relationship between Samus and Adam int his game as something to look up to?
When the story is more degrading than most porn fanfiction you have a fucking problem. At least in the hentai Samus can actually think for herself instead of breaking down into little girl sobs just because Adam isn't there to remind her what pair of genitals she was born with every five minutes.

Idk... Maybe this is one of her psycho breaks... She's been alone for a while so I guess seeing Adam makes her all awk... I have no idea... Still love the game though. Maybe it's like seeing a long lost family member but why would you want to see a family member... No idea, man...

Well, I do agree that the story was lacking and the sexism and relationship between Adam and Samus was kinda messed but, but I focused more on the gameplay. For a metroid story, it was all right; could have been better. I still loved the game though.

Pseudo-SA-X
Why does her suit come off when Samus is escaping inside her spaceship?
Sakamoto
For Samus's suit to appear, considerable powers of concentration are necessary. In short, it was too constraining. It's the same as a salary man loosening his necktie when returning from a business trip on the bullet train.
Mimicchi
Isn't Samus's powered suit integrated with her whole body? After you destroy Mother Brain, and on the way back pursued by space pirates, Zebes is falling apart. Why does she lose her suit when it should be integrated with her. That's my first question. Thank you very much!
Sakamoto
For Samus to remain connected with the Power Suit requires mental energy unfathomable to an ordinary person. In situations like this when she is under pressure, indeed, even Samus is unable to concentrate her mental energy. However, when Samus completes the trial of the spirit of the mural (God of War), she regains her strong force of will and can successfully integrate with the Legendary Power Suit.
That along with the manga being treated as partially canon, both Samus' and Adam's actions make sense. Adam knows how Samus dells with her problems and understand that putting more stress on her with in the current situation would have been a horrible idea as it would make her mental state worse. That basically covers two of the main problems people have with the game's story.

Ether101 In reply to tanuki-kage [2011-12-08 07:42:49 +0000 UTC]
Except the link you gave is full of ****. Nothing Adam does in Other M is abusive, nothing. Samus' suit puts stress on her mind and the effect is amplified by having by having more functions active. Adam knows this and knows that Samus was suffering mentally at the time.
Plus, Samus is only in three life treating and thous were because of who she was fighting not her environment. And in all three of those happen after Adam stops giving her orders.

tanuki-kage In reply to Ether101 [2011-12-08 21:18:21 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't matter what context it is, unless it's self-defense, shooting someone will get your ass handed to you in jail. It is never acceptable in anything outside of self-defense. No excuse outside of that will ever hold up in court. You do not shoot people you love. You do not hurt people you love. You do not unnecessarily endanger people you love. EVER
It doesn't matter if it's the same stupid "I was protecting her!" bullshit that Twilight fans use to justify Edward's obvious abusive relationship with Bella. If my boyfriend decides he wants to join the military and put himself in high danger, that doesn't give me the right to fucking shoot him in the back.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ether101 In reply to tanuki-kage [2011-12-15 10:47:17 +0000 UTC]
Not really, most tazing is done by shooting somebody. More importantly, Adam was trying to incapacitate Samus not to hurt her but to prevent her from hurting herself.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
tanuki-kage In reply to Ether101 [2011-12-15 22:03:07 +0000 UTC]
Tazing is rarely lethal. Shooting someone often is. Guns were meant to kill, tasers were not.
Secondly, Samus could have been freaking killed anyway considering there were metroids around.
Thirdly, "protecting someone" is not any excuse. It's the same bullshit excuse twilight fans use when trying to defend Edward's abusive behavior. Hell, it's the same dang excuse abusive men use to defend their abuse. If my boyfriend decides he wants to join the military and thus be put in very heavy danger, that doesn't give me the right to fucking shoot him and/or lock him up somewhere. In the end it comes to respecting the person and their decisions. You can be vocal about your opinion, but when it comes down to physical force it is inexcusable.
