Not too long ago I learned that before Nelvana's aquistion of Kids Can Press, other than Production Rights, Kids Can alsoo licensed Nelvana the Merchandising Rights to Franklin too.

Nice and Fun Fact: Franklin the Turtle was originally a book publishing property published by Kids Can Press. The TV Series deal expanded when Nelvana (at the time just the show's owner) bought Kids Can Press in August 1998
