Description NOTE: PLEASE FULL VIEW .

Just finished the sketch of Birkin. The model for this is Sean Boundy, who's playing the role of Birkin in our fan film Resident Evil: Contamination. Like the sketch of My character, this is just a ROUGH drawing that I did using I mechanical pencil...nothing else. Depth/shading, etc will all be done when I paint it. I didn't bother with allot of the details, since they're easier for me to add during painting.

The idea behind this one I was going for is: Birkin knows Umbrella has sent soldiers to take his work. He's to the
breaking point contemplating releasing all the B.O.W.s to hopefully stop or slow the team's progress (Bio-Organic-Weapons). He's tense and idly taps the licker's containment capsule taking note of the creature's aggression...and thinking generally cold and wicked thoughts, lol. Maybe I'm one of the few...but I find Birkin's story really sad, most of you who have played Resident Evil 2 should know the story. Yeah I know he's evil, but still...he's got a family and he's just trying to protect what he's put so much blood, sweat, and tears (well probably not tears)..into.

Love this!I too feel sad for Birkin and didn't see him as a villain really, the ones who shot him were worse I thought.

This is awesome
So much detail it's unbelievable.

Although i have to say i lost pity for birkin whilst playing the game, maybe it was the fact he kept trying to kill me, and every time i thought i'd got rid of him he would just come back with an extra arm or two...

Heh anyway, it's a really good sketch

This is a wonderful Birkin piece, I absolutely love the pose and the detail. Your art is simply amazing!

btw I'm really glad that you too think his story is really sad, regardless how evil he is.

Son-of-a-gun that's wicked. In a good way. LOL. The "Blood, Sweat and Tears" quote came from the Nazi leader Hitler. That guy was evil, also retarded in the skull. William Birkin is somewhat a Nazi in his own way because, heck, he's one of the main reasons why Raccoon was nuked. Anyway, fantastic sketch. I love the details! };3 -5 S.T.A.R.S.

Thanks! I still think it's a little stiff...but I'm hoping to tweak out the kinks when I get to painting it . For some reason my comfort zone is more in sculpting and painting. I'm hoping to take another life drawing class for practice soon, those really help loosen my lines up/get better depth.

This is really lovely!! Your lines are great even for a sketch The motion you captured in the Licker is awesome, especially in contrast to Will's pose. Sweet job.

Thanks so much! I had allot of fun on this one...that's the first licker I've DRAWN that wasn't just a scribble with a pen, it was actually pretty easy since I have my licker sculpture for reference. The part I had the most trouble with were Birkin's hands/arms...I need to take another life drawing class to loosen me up XD. Painting it will tweak all that out at least...I hope, lol.

pencils on this are amazing, even if you're just going to paint over it (which i cant wait to see!) this has great details~ I love William's kind of calmness in the face of one of his monstrous creations.

And god yes ): his story = *tears*

Thanks for the thoughtful response/compliment . I don't like just doing a full drawing using JUST the mechanical pencil...usually I use several different graphite pencils...but I knew I was going to paint it, so I didn't bother.

It always killed me when Annette rushes in and he's already slipping away...and the way the soldiers are so cold and say "Careful! you might hit the sample!". Even being an older game...the scene is still very sad, and they conveyed Annette's emotion perfectly in that cinema.

Thanks! ...yeah we've got a freaking handsome Birkin. Sean has forever changed my view of the character, haha. I've felt bad for Birkin ever since RE2 was first released though ...the story is really sad..especially when one of the soldiers says "Careful! you might hit the sample" after shooting the crap out of him...they don't give a crap about the life they just took, and who they just took from a loving wife and daughter. Yeah I know it's just a game but I think about these things! SAD!

I'm hoping I'll have a little time tonight to get started on painting it. I want to paint the Butterfly one too...but this one seems more popular, so I'll probably paint it first. I had more fun with it...don't like drawing myself .

...
yes, sad but true... It doesnΒ΄t matter if it is a game, itΒ΄s sad anyway. And I think such scenes show the real life too - you only need to think about war, people are just interested in money and power, so resident evil is relatively real in this point of view...

But Wesker will be my love forever, I donΒ΄t care how evil he is!

Excellent concept!!!

Thanks! yeah, I'm definitely painting it...I left allot undone because it's easier to do some of the stuff AS I paint. I'm happiest with Birkin's face, and the licker....I think I got the level of aggression I was aiming for!! Lickers are freaking fun to draw and sculpt..they're just this sinewy and vicious thing that truly was made for nothing more than causing someone to crap them self before being ripped apart XD!...and Birkin is thinking that very same thought! lol.

Thanks allot! I really need the practice...I know allot of my lines are stiff. I seem to have no problem getting my stuff to look better when I paint them...but I need to work on simple sketches more. I'm going to try to keep pumping these out so I can hopefully get better, possibly take another life drawing class soon...those REALLY help loosen me up. I think I'll be doing allot for the film with these, so...plenty of practice to come..
