It's been a while since I found anything of note as I wasn't out on any expedition. Blame the heat. But all that has changed when I was walking my dog this evening and saw this guy chilling on a linden. It's a lime hawk-moth (Mimas tiliae), which I've met in the past, but only as a caterpillar. I've never seen an adult.
Butterflies aren't not priority targets for me, but hawk moths are an exception. I've always found them fascinating and they're elusive creatures of the night.
