Description
I've decided to give myself an early birthday present and headed to our capital city, where is an old cherry orchard, which houses these lovely jewel beetles. Anthaxia candens is quite rare, because it's tied to old cherry trees and well, there's not a lot of those around where I live. And they are easy to miss as well, because they mostly dwell on leaves above your head, sometimes they can be found crawling on tree trunks or branches, but I've only seen one that did that, the rest was on leaves. So, I quickly figured out if I'm to get any decent pictures, I need to come up with a way to catch one. And I did. And I still cannot belive it worked. You see, they let go if you so much as touch the leaf they're on, so all that's needed is one well placed mint tin box. After that I would transport them on the ground and took my photos that way. This one stood still just long enough for me to immortalize it. This time it only took 88 pictures.
