Description So I finally caught the elusive metallic wood boring beetles. I believe it's Agrilus angustulus or oak borer I kept talking about in my previous pictures. I finally learned the secret to photographing them. At first it was purely random, one would fly on a treestump or I'd find one on blade of grass or leaf. Then I kept finding them regularly on oak and maple leaves next to some recently chopped down trees, but they also kept flying away. And eventually I caught them laying eggs into the tree torso (this last attempt took roughly two hours). So, this is a female. I also found a bronze colored one and jury is still out on what species that is. It could just be some color variant or it could be completely different species, I don't know. These guys are incredibly tough to identify.
