Description "You call *that* armour?"

A self-propelled gun design on a modified Leopard 1 hull, the StGz (Sturmgeschutz) was aimed at taking down the toughest armoured opponents, against the Mamoth and Apokalipsis-class tanks from very long ranges. A 155mm cannon was selected as the main armament, with initial prototypes fielding a 20mm anti-air autocannon for defense. Subsequent development led to the Pzh 2000.

The StGz fell into disuse with development of improved target tracking technologies and missiles, with the design being gradually phased out of howitzer formations in the second half of its lifetime.

A more plausible take on Red Alert's vehicles. And a tribute to one of the first strategy games I played and the countless hours invested.
The full project is detailed in the Journal entry below!
Project Showcase: Red Alert 2 Combat VehiclesI remember Red Alert 2. I remember waking up early on Saturdays, firing up the computer and playing a couple skirmishes, mostly messing around and massing units for large attacks. Mind you, I was pretty terrible gameplay-wise and couldn’t even complete the campaign. Didn’t stop me from trying!
At some point last year I got to idea to pay homage to one of the cornerstone RTS games that I played when I was really young. Given the array of alternate history vehicles that I had drawn up to that point, the slightly more zany designs of the Red Alert universe were not much of a stretch. And thus the project began.
I had initially thought of a single idea for a piece, and then over the course of several days other ideas poured in and reached the 5 pieces, which were completed over several months, and I limited myself to those 5 rather than let my mind come up with more and extend the project’s completion. One of the things I pushed myself to do was incorporate the background

Hey, I like this design a lot. Even more funny is, that the actual PzH2000 is now being used for direct fire as there aren't enough combat-worthy tanks anymore... xD

Huh, well that's ironic, I thought that the tank destroyer role was pretty much obsolete with air-ground rockets and modern man-portable systems.

Overall not the most quotable tank, but has its moments I guess.
