Description
“Wrapped Up In Blue”

What if I miss
the parade passing by
while watching the rain
fall from the sky
and don’t see all
of the clowns waving hi
because I was wrapped up in blue?

What if I ignore
the call of the wild
and settle for something
a little more mild
neglecting the voice
of my inner child
because I was wrapped up in blue?

What if the sun
shines on my face
while I hang it low
in a shadowy place
and I can’t feel the warmth
of its radiant grace
because I was wrapped up in blue?

What if the words
that I long to hear
are uttered from lips
I find so dear
but are washed away
in a river of tears
because I was wrapped up in blue?

What if I never
experience it all
while sitting precariously
perched on the wall
not daring to move
for fear I will fall
because I was wrapped up in blue?

But what if I smile,
join the parade…
Talk to the child,
step out of the shade…
listen more closely,
hear the love that I made…
I’d be happy, remembering you.

Life is full of what if's....most are pointless. Sometimes, it's worth it to question them....
