My brothers and I lived in eastern Europe for a while so we do OK with Russian. For some reason "War and Peace" in Russian seemed academic, yet unsettling.

I actually used to have a friend named Heather, until she committed suicide by hanging herself 2 years ago. I still dream about her smiling and it makes me sad.

This piece was for a gallery that did group show about cult-classics. The movie I chose was "Heathers." It's a dark comedy and not at all reverent, but it gave me an opportunity to say something somewhat meaningful.

It is an interesting subject to cover artistically. I Have seen bits and pieces of Heathers, but never the whole thing in one sitting. I didn't even make that connection until after I commented. I also responded to someone who wasn't you because I wasn't paying attention

It was as painful as a tragedy could be. She had just turned 21 2 months before she took her life. As with any suicide, no one is really sure why she chose to leave us all. I will never stop thinking of her. When I saw your DD, I gasped at the similarities. It's a touching piece. Your style is very interesting. Persephone is gorgeous! (fav'd that one) I wish you all the best with your talent. Your work is thought provoking, interesting and very relatable. Thank you for sharing it with us all here on DA
