Ultra Fractal 4.03 || Full view recommended for detail"But Captain it is insanity to show the opposition our battle plan before the war"
"Oh hush you second rate fisherboy"
Two more weeks to go and I can't wait to submitt it, I am such a pansy.
Ultra Fractal Tourney Rules:
_Images must be Black and White (shades of grey allowed)
_Image must be created entirely in UF. Minimal post is allowed, however, you cannot use postwork to make your image black and white. Parameters will be required to ensure that black and white gradients are used.
_You may only submit one image, and you cannot change your entry once it has been submitted. Judging will be based on creativity. Since color is not an issue, design becomes more important.
Let the battle begin.

This came out wonderfully! I love how there is a lot going on, the closer you get to the center.

Hi My Friend,
I have a new name -- maybe you may recognize who I am from your past -- this is by far one of the most spectacular fractals I have ever seen -- the non-color monochromatic palette is perfect -- this has a great sense of mystery to it -- in an odd way it reminds me of Japanese prints -- the line work is so delicate -- everything is which makes it so great --- it is nice to see the central image complete & full -- not like most fractals -- you will always be one of my favs in this field -- Ilike this direction towards minimalism -- now that is a hint for you -- take care -- I am out gallery hoping through my faves I resued out ot my old gallery -- you may have stopped by when I did take one of of it of yours -- I made the change so I could get back some control to go to galleries & be able to chose a piece and give it the credit it deserves -- no more forced feeding of art to me -- I like it this way -- no more stress -- hint what is a SR-71 Blackbird -- you should be able to guess with that clue -- oh -- I love the moon -- take care -- Skye

I really like this, great greyscale fractal. I agree with *HorseLips that it might have been nice to have brighter white/more contrast in the centre or maybe some darker shading around the edges... You can do it in uf without any postwork with an adjustment layer and it's the same technique you use for soft vignetting. I've been thinking about making a tutorial for it, do you think anyone would be interested?
Anyway sorry for rambling a bit, I think this is well done, good luck in the contest.

I think this would be a great addition to an ongoing fractal knowledge base.

Great!
It makes me think sadly that I've already been ejected from the tournament...
I'll try to do better but its hard!
Good luke

I really like the subdued tonal range and grainy areas. The overall look is slightly menacing, redolent of a nocturnal lepidopteral conventicle in the centre, of sectioned artichokes elsewhere...
(I think my imagination and vocabulary just entered a contest there - tell me which won! )

Wow! What a great fractal. Nice dark shades and it has that subtle 3D quality. Super job!!

Outstanding design!...I would love to see more fractals in black and white, because sometimes the details get lost in the colors.
I do wish that the white center was brought out just a little more for a bit more contrast, but..as is..this is a showpiece.

very nice, without colour, the actual thing is even more important, and yours definitly lives up to that! ^.^

Amazing textures. The overall feeling of the piece reminds me of a stained glass window, despite the fact that it's monochromatic. And that's quite an amazing feat! Good luck with the contest!

Did you make them when you were young, we had a stained glass exercise in school, and everything had to be a butterfly

My Mum taught me, and fortunately I was allowed to make whatever I wanted, so it was a better experience. These days I do windows, lanterns and mirrors. (Got a whole bunch in my gallery).
For your window I rather thought of the big rosette windows in old gothic cathedrals though, because of that wonderful central petal design.
