Appreciation of the above requires knowledge of a certain cult sci-fi series and some understanding of first-year maths;* so if you laugh at all, tell me, because I doubt that anyone will even get it.

Whilst on the subject of The Prisoner, there is apparently an up-to-date remake being filmed this year, airing in 2009 (in the UK, at least).

Frankly, I can't see how any remake could possibly be any better than the original, with all the idiosyncratic quirks of 1960s sci-fi, the charming wackiness of Portmeirion, and even Patrick McGoohan himself. Do we need a new series? Bless Freeview for reruns, and curse Hollywood for "slick-yet-totally-missing-the-point" remakes (I still haven't forgiven Nicholas Cage for that remake of The Wicker Man.)
Having said that, it is being co-produced by ITV (the original patrons) and the script has been praised by Ian McKellen, who has been cast as Number 2; and further credible endorsement (i.e. by McGoohan) might sway me... so I may tune in, but not with the greatest of expectations.
