It's not boring at all! It's very good! I was actually wondering if I could use it? I'm making an online course for creative writing (as I am a writer, not much of an artist) and I need to pretty up my lessons. I was wondering if I could use this picture in it. Of course I'd give you credit and everything! I could either put your name in a caption under the picture or I could put you in my reference sheet. Or I could do both! So, you'd definitely get your credit in!

To answer your question about the brushes, I used the arty ones that come with Photoshop CS (they are not installed by default, you have to load them afterwards) but changed the scatter and shape settings to respond to different pressure & tilt with the Wacom tablet.

I must assert that digital art can indeed have soul. Don't forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and so then is meaning and "soul". A piece can be very evocative and full even if its textures are simulated and its colors shine from a monitor instead of off a canvas.
For a perfect example, I reference the body of your work!

I think I agree... I sort of realised that the 'soul' of a piece of work comes from the emotion put into it by the artist, regardless of the medium. Thanks again for the feedback!

Really like this Jeeves...nice work, thought it was physical media when I first saw it. Nice image as well, reminds me of me when I was a lot younger!

Thanks Neil... I'm glad that my attempt at mimicking real media isn't in vain.

I do sometimes wonder, though, whether digital art has any soul to it at all. The textures are illusion; they're visible but not touchable. Ho-hum.

Well...when viewing artwork on the internet it's all digital...I have to say I prefer traditional work a lot more than digital but I really like this piece.
