The final for this class was another skull drawing, and you can bet I spent many hours to get all the little details haha. Last upload for today I promise!

Thank you! I remember having to layer the pencil a lot to get the darker tones and I'm glad to hear they show well. ^^

Thank you so much, it's just a matter of practicing to draw what you see. It's not easy but the more you do it the better you get. ^^

You're very welcome! It's true, it's not that easy to draw what you see, I know sometimes my brain takes over and guesstimates something that I'll have to unlearn haha! Thank you

I do the same thing too haha, I think it's good to guesstimate because you can take liberties to make things more interesting, like exaggerating color (something I like to do). I meant it more in a way of practicing to look at something so you can understand how it works? I hope this makes sense haha.

I guess it's also a matter of knowing whens good to guesstimate, so with exaggerating colour for style and experimenting and what not or if you're learning and sketching what you see, trying to get as close to the original as possible and as you say, understanding how it works, but even then in that instance you could make things interesting too! It's great that with art there isn't a right or wrong way of conveying your subject
And yes, I think I do understand what you mean, so not to worry!

Yes I couldn't say it better myself, there is really no right or wrong. unless you are trying to copy something exactly in all detail, but even then no one would really know what it looked like, and it might have looked different to each individual. It's one of the best things about art that you can do whatever you want
Glad I didn't confuse you haha

Hey, I'm very sorry for the late reply. This is very true, you can learn from copying, but understanding how a form works provides more information (I need to do more studies to improve on this - I probably do a lot more copying than understanding). And it's not too much of the problem if it deviates a little bit, that can give it a little bit of style or be accurate enough that you know what it is...if that makes sense? If I am using a pinterest reference for example, I kinda like to slightly change how the person or object looks (though not always on purpose)

NO worries, I am working on improving that myself. There is always so much to learn!
I know exactly what you mean. Like when I do a still life, I push the colors to be more vibrant
and add colors that aren't necessarily present but give more life to the image if that makes sense?
So yeah making small adjustments and changes like that make things more interesting!
Sometimes accidents have cool effects~

Sorry for the late reply! There really is, it's kinda overwhelming oOo
I'm trying to do that more, so it's good practice to get into really bringing more colour and vibrancy. Yeah, I understand you, especially adding certain tones on skin colours really make them pop, it's like magic! I guess it's just a matter of seeing what others do and experimenting on your own to see what works for you, which is a lot of fun, especially if you find something pretty cool in your experiments
