Description
The bald eagle parents I occasionally visit. Their two eaglets (not visible here) are approaching 1 month in age. Here a parent is returning with a relatively small fish. Normally they waste little time feeding it to their young (while sneaking a few bites for themselves), but this time they both just sat, as if exhausted. No little heads popped up to feed. I suspect the young were napping and the parents decided to let them sleep awhile longer, as lunch could wait. Who knows? Perhaps they'd just eaten and weren't hungry. The light was too overhead, and the sky overcast. I knew the photos would be "iffy" but, ever hopeful, I took them anyway. Then you add (into the mix) the branches that are growing around the nest and the leaves that will soon be opening and blocking the view. It's very hard for the camera to know what to focus on. Each time I return to shoot, my "windows" into the nest are diminishing.Related content
