"By my best calculations, it had been nearly 8 hours since I had started my journey...and still, I had not crossed over the mountains.
If anything, I could all but speculate that I was at the very least half way up the slope; the summit still far even with my long strides.
The sun had set nearly 2 hours ago already. As I continued to walk, I couldn't help but think that I should have arrived at the fort by this time. Still, I had not anticipated the thick, heavy snow and strong, blinding winds which made travel through this environment that much more difficult.
The night air was frigid, making my armor creak and moan. My peds by this time felt numb. The ice and snow packed in so thick, that I couldn't hardly differentiate where my ped stopped and the ground beneath me began.
I tried not to listen to the sounds my body was making. I wanted to ignore the discomfort. Instead, I listened to the snow crunching softly under my stabilizing servos...being as that was among the only sounds to hear. This mountain wasn't at all like Washington D.C. or N.E.S.T.. It was quiet, tranquil.
As I moved up past a thin grove of trees, my headlights guiding my path up a frozen riverbed; I was taken by surprise to see something. A building of some sort, standing alone in a clearing. I approached cautiously, knowing all too well that a structure meant human inhabitance. But as I came closer, it was easy enough to conclude that this clearing had not been inhabited in quite some time. Most likely abandoned for one reason or another. My only confusion to seeing this site was; why would any human want to live in this environment?
Regardless, it wasn't my place to dictate what was or wasn't a suitable place for a human to live. My only concern at that moment was reaching the fort.
I pushed on, leaving the dilapidated structure behind me. It's frame standing in solidarity against the cold, moon lit snow.
Fort Wainwright CAN'T be too far. I have to believe that I'm almost there..."

Well...truth be told...I was not expecting to be able to upload another deviation so early this week. If anything, I was hoping to submit by this weekend...
BUT...my momma got sick early this morning so...I stayed home from work today to take care of her.
Aren't I such a nice daughter??
I didn't really have to do much though...cuz she did more sleeping than anything else so...I used my unexpected free time to work on some stuff.

After seeing what kind of reception I got for A Long Way from Home, I thought it would be kind of neat to do a sequel image of sorts...you know...so you viewers can get a glimpse into my crazy brain as to how some of these ideas eventually play out.
Almost There was started this morning at approximately 7:30am this morning...it was finished approximately 20minutes ago for me (so... at about 10:18pm). I would have waited until morning to submit it for all you watchers to see but I was just so stoked with how this turned out that I just couldn't wait.
