Translated: ”I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.”
This is Mäyara.

She is the daughter of King Mèiolk and Queen Neâlaie – the ruling alphas of the land of Du’Sul. (Translated from Welsh folklore – the name means ‘Black Sun’) Dul’Sul resides in an alternate dimension just parallel to that of our own, and is completely inhabited by dragons.
There are 6 different kinds of dragon species, and each lay claim to a continent in Dul’Sul. The northern-most continent of Dŵr is overseen by the Saffir (the water and ice dragons), the continent of Tân, a land based mainly around the world’s equater and most volcanic regions – by the Crimson (the smoke and fire dragons); the continet of Ddaear, a region filled with everything from lush jungles and forrests to rocky plains and desolate deserts is occupied by the Clogfeini (earth dragons). Then, to the west in the mountainous regions, resided the desolate, isolated Continent of Awyr. The Gwynt (air dragons- also often associated with light) are often considered pacifists and have isolated themselves from the other dragon kinds. And last, in the center of the world, amidst all these other lands, resides the small continent of Tywyllwch – and in the center of this, the city of Canolfan. Here, lives the Tywyllwch (shadow dragons) – the most rare and powerful of all dragon kind. They are so rare in fact that the same family of Tywyllwch have been ruling over Dul’Sul for 100 generations. And in the present, only two still exist; the matriarch’s name - King Mèiolk.
Each dragon continent has an elected leader that represents their clan in the capital city of Canolfan. For the Saffir, it is Yafiela – “The Wise”. For the Crimson, it is Baoleck – “The Bold”. For the Clogfeini, it is Rascefreck – “The Sturdy”, and for the continent of Awyr, it is Neâlaie – “The Gentle”…who also happens to be the Queen and mate to King Mèiolk.
Without the presence of human beings – the sworn enemy of dragon-kind - the land of Dul’Sul has lived in peace and prosperity for thousands of years. And contrary to their otherwise beastly appearances – have proven themselves to be a superior race for civility and democracy. They’ve made leaps and bounds in culture, medicine, science and technology that would otherwise far surpass anything we mere humans could ever know. But yet still hold onto and embrace tradition and simple lifestyles.
But not all dragons are completely satisfied with Dul’Sul’s peaceful way of life. In fact, the young Tywyllwch, and heir to the throne, Princess Mäyara couldn’t be more restless. She dreads the thought of her betrothal to a young drake named Kyruc, and longs for a life of action and adventure…and freedom…but she never expected her adventure to come in the form of a young human boy who miraculously found his way through the veil into the world of dragons…

So yeah…this has honestly been a story concept I’ve been working on for quite some time…the only problem is – I’ve been so backed up with other projects that, I’m not sure I’ll ever get this concept any further then from where it is now. ^^” Oh well…I figured if nothing else – the least I can do is just post this art this art that’s just been sitting around for goodness knows how-long.
