Description
This is a scene in my planned fanfic where Mikey and Roger are rehearsing their roles in their school's upcoming play "East Side Story" (parody of "West Side Story", obviously).

Originally, Roger was auditioning for the lead male part, and begged Mikey to audition as well: the GSD was too nervous about going by himself, but also didn't want anybody else to figure that out. "If you audition too, nobody will think that I asked you to come along for emotional support. So will you, Mikey? Pleeeeeease?" Cue the 'puppy eyes' from Roger, and Mikey gave in.

(Quick note: this takes place before the two become an item)

Even though Roger wanted the lead, he ended up getting cast as the lead's best friend... and it was Mikey who got the lead. At first, Mikey considered backing out, but again, Roger talked him into staying: "This is perfect! The lead role would have been too much for me anyhow. This way the whole play will be easier for me, knowing that a friend is right there alongside me. Won't you do this for me, Mikey? Pleeeeeease?"

"Ugh, I'm putting it on my schedule to learn how to say 'No' to those puppy eyes of yours!"

"THANKS, MIKEY!" (glomp)

Those familiar with the original "Class Menagerie" comic will remember that Mikey once got the lead role in "Slicked" (a parody of "Grease"), but it was for the purpose of having an excuse to 'experiment' with three pretty girls (the actresses who'd be playing his character's girlfriends) in order to figure out if he himself was gay or not. Mikey made the conclusion that he was no doubt homosexual, because he ended up developing a crush on one of his male costars but felt nothing for any of the girls.

I thought it'd be interesting if yet another musical play caused a big step in Mikey's love life: playing Roger's best friend onstage caused them to grow closer... and not only that, but get this:

There's been an idea about "West Side Story" that Tony and Riff (the parts Mikey and Roger will be playing, respectively) were once lovers, and even though Tony moved on, Riff still carried a torch. And guess what? The fella who wrote "West Side Story", Arthur Laurents (who is also gay), supported this idea.

As if that weren't enough, the director of Mikey and Roger's play remembered that in last year's performance, Mikey had difficulty in his kiss scenes with Lisa, his female costar. He was worried Mikey might have the same problem with this year's leading lady, which lead to him telling Mikey to hang out with Roger even more, since the GSD had a reputation as being a bit of a ladies' man. "Perhaps he can give you some useful tips!"

Right now, I'm thinking this leads to Roger's discovery about Mikey's orientation... but the GSD doesn't take the opportunity to ask him out. Instead, he focuses on helping Mikey learn how to give a convincing kiss to a girl... and manages to succeed. It's only until after the play is over that Roger brings the subject up again.
