Oh... oooh... erm... right, so I don't entirely agree with this sign. I'm not particularly pro-abortion, but this my theology teacher has an interesting theory that whoever throws Hitler in to an argument loses, because unless they say something profoundly stupid, no one is likely to argue.... and I think this sign is another example of such a case. Who'd dare argue against something as gut wrenching as this sign? I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the point it's making but I think a) how can you clame it is the ultimate? How do you define abuse and so on...? B) what about a teenage mother who is wanting to abort her child that is conceived through child abuse? I truly don't think anyone is fit to judge such a teenage mother (in that kind of circumstance) as being an abuser herself. I am pretty sure God won't, God is love. As such, I believe God will enfold both unborn child, and distraught, damaged mother into his arms.

no one would (or should) judge anyone who has an abortion, let alone someone in the circumstances you described. But that still doesn't make it right to kill another child.

But I agree that god will love and accept the mother no matter what, it just shouldn't be that he has to accept an unborn child, rather than an elderly person that was perhaps given up for adoption.

Hi Harlequin. I think (rather, know) there is a certain amount of judgement with regards to abortion, and I disagree with this, judgement is God's alone. Though I pray that there are more people who agree it shouldn't happen.

The circumstances don't make it right to kill another child, I agree... but I think there is - in some (such extreme) cases - a middle ground. Where the action (of aborting) is wrong, but is equally not condemnable. You can't accuse a mother in those circumstances of child abuse at all; for so many reasons too... but of course we would hope and pray that she would have the strength to give life to, mother, and safeguard her child.

No one knows what that child was destined for and that's what makes it hard. I don't always agree with The Christian Institute (UK)'s website but abortion inevitably can kill gems that are wonderfully and fearfully made. I'm not entirely sure how to put a link on so you may have to copy + paste the below!

[link]

I don't want any (inevitably beautiful and wonderful) child to be aborted... but I also don't want anyone to have reasons to do so (and I don't believe disability is a reason). The reasons I want to see fall away is promiscuity, selfishness, rape, abuse, fear, oppression and poverty amongst others. We need to change more than just laws on abortion... it has to start with our overall world view... it's our world and our society which makes it so hard for women to entertain the thoughts of giving birth to their babies.

Praise be x

I'm not sure whether you've misunderstood my comment, or I've now missunderstood your comment ( my bad) but I agree that no one should judge the mother, whether she has the abortion or not. But I cant really agree that it's not abusing the unborn child (not that I'm trying to say the mother is a child abuser, its kinda complicated :S)

My mother was advised to have an abortion (and coincidentally, so was her mother) and also my friends mother too, and here we all are today, healthy and individual people. It is terrible the circumstances in which a child can be conceived, but it's equally, if not more, terrible that they should be killed, and that is why I could never condone abortion. But as we've both said, that still doesn't give me the right to judge, and I would never think less of anyone for having an abortion (unless they were just using it as a birth control, or they'd been stupid and didn't want the pregnancy. Then I would probably think less of them, but I still wouldn't judge, if you know what I mean?)

ANYWAY, I think we've probably ended up repeating each other a bit and sorry if this seems hostile, thats not how I was meaning it to sound

Bless you!

"A" and "The" are two different words. "The" is pointing out a particular thing when "A" can mean anything. Then again, why the hell am I teaching English to a pro-choice fail troll.

in canada, there are zero laws about abortion -- babies can be murdered even up to 9 months old. 100,000 killed in canada per year, and we only have a population of 30 million. there are also no political parties opposing it, except the Christian Heritage Party, which is very small.

That is very sad. I wonder if they'd change their minds if they saw a video of a 9-month child, about to leave the womb, but killed by abortion.

if the government schools happened to educate our schoolkids about what abortion is, the kids would start a revolution. But we adults are so much wiser than children.

jonaslee In reply to MetalShadowOverlord [2010-10-08 08:54:32 +0000 UTC]

now you've got me thinking!

there are two definite thoughts here (and probably more):
1) people who believe in creation believe that God created humans very differently, i mean, not just any another species of animal. people who believe in darwinism cannot assert any philosophical difference between humans and e-coli bacteria. this is a drastic devaluation of human life -- we swat mosquitoes / we kill babies: what's the difference? -- darwin had the skulls of australian aborigines boiled for museums... and hitler was a student of darwin.

2) Christians know about John the baptist when he was in the womb -- (3 months pregnant?) -- "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb [...] And she [...] said, 'Blessed are you among women, [...] behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.'"

MetalShadowOverlord In reply to jonaslee [2010-10-09 05:04:28 +0000 UTC]

Those are some interesting thoughts, but it appears that even believers in the Darwinian theories can properly measure the life of a mosquito to that of a human.
