Boring?
My friend, I must say, you are officially jaded, welcome to the club. However, I must say, the grain in this piece is actually quite exciting, and if that opposite side with the knot as just a little better sanded, this would be a perfect piece to add to your portfolio of quality works.
As for the design, yes I agree, it is a little boring, but it does show off the colors nicely.
