Description Small experiment turned from a cherry fork and left to warp. It's too small to really be of any value but I'm quite happy with the patterns in the wood. I dunno, might be good for holding cheese cubes at a party or something.

Cool, I really like cutting my own Cherry so I can mix and match the heartwood and sapwood. Commercial stuff is always kinda bland. Pure heartwood with no character. I've read that they usually steam it to make the color of the heartwood bleed into the sapwood. That's fine for furniture but it makes for a boring bowl/trinket/carved widget in my opinion.

Love this one too, They only need to be beautiful to justify their existance, and this one manages that really well. BTW in the photo it looks slightly leaf shaped. Have you considered adding a small hand carved stem at the left hand side and shape the opposite to be a little more pointed. Some light carved veins maybe. Hmm. might try something like that myself.

You could pull off that "carved leaf" thing without a doubt. Awesome idea! Anyway, glad you like it. Sometimes I feel a little crestfallen when I make something like this and no one seems to notice. Thanks!

I sometimes despair when I see day after day of really uninteresting submissions. It's always a breath of fresh air when you submit some of your bowls. It's like "thank god, someone can do real woodworking".

Thank you. I am a staunch supporter of everybody taking pride in their creative efforts, whatever they are and however evolved on their journey they are. However I wish DA would introduce different categories in the woodworking section similar to ceramics and others. I find I can only look at so many wooden swords before despair sets in. Having said that, it's such a treat when something really nice comes up.

I'm with you regarding woodworking categories. Seems a little weak that a rebuilt antique speedboat is in the same category as a carved skull figurine.
