of Danny Phantom and Steven Universe will get.
To put it simply, Jasper from Steven Universe looks down upon "fusions" as:
"Just a cheap tactic that weak Gems use to become stronger."
One person who would take offense to that
is Dan Phantom (AKA "Dark Danny")
a powerful ghost villain who is the fused form
of Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius ghost halves.
Not that Dan really NEEDS a reason to kill anyone.
but, Jasper's prejudice against fusions certainly gives him one.
(oh, if only we could see the battle that follows. THAT would've been awesome!)

And unlike regular fusions which are powered by a strong bond and love Dark Danny is powered by only HATRED!!!! Also now that you mention it. I kinda wonder what it would be like if Dan unfused. What would Phantom and Plasmius be like without their human halfs.

To answer that, one has to examine what their ghost halves really are.
and, I think they are quite literally manifestations of their true natures.
Vlad spent his whole life being bitter and angry, so it made sense why fusing
with Plasmius corrupted Danny's ghost half, as he couldn't handle that much raw hatred.
Danny Phantom himself, well..Previously he was motivated by selfless desires,
but it is clear that after his friends and family died due to his actions, it drastically affected him.
As such, Pre-Dan Danny Phantom may've suffered some self-loathing,
which resulted into a figure not unlike Darth Vader.
..He hates everyone and everything, BUT he hates himself most of all.
So, it is as you say: Hatred keeps them fused together as a perfect being.
Hatred for everything/everyone, themselves and each other.

Given that Dan is a fusion, and Jasper having a problem with them, Dan won't take too kindly to her prejudice.
Dan: "So, I hear you don't take too kindly to fusions? Alright. I'll lay waste to everything you hold dear."

Especially since as Fusions go, Dan Phantom is the most powerful.
Having destroyed 90% of the Earth, and most (if not the entirety) of the Ghost Dimension.
I dare say even Garnet would have difficulty against Dan.

There were some parts in TUE that I didn't quite get
(mainly, exactly what happened to Danny before he returned to the present.
we got cut off after Old Vlad attacked him, and never saw what happened next.)
One might believe that Danny was trying to overshadow Vlad,
and somehow it went horribly (and, unexpectedly) wrong.
one might take from that is that Ghost CAN'T overshadow each other..
Except, I have seen it done successfully in other situations.
(Danny even succeeded in overshadowing Vlad's spectral duplicate once with no ill effects.)
If Danny meant to fuse with Vlad, then where did he get the idea that he could??
I'm not sure if Danny knew he could do this, as no example of Ghost Fusions were presented prior.
ehh..who knows?
whatever the case, Danny fused with Vlad.
but, while Danny's physical form remained dominant..Vlad's evil personality
overwhelmed Danny already fragile mind (hence Danny lashing out so quickly.)
Making Dan Phantom a very powerful fusion form.
and, one that would be a real terror in the world of Steven Universe
(I doubt even Garnet would have an easy time with him.)

On the subject of Danny overshadowing one of Vlad's copies, both Danny and Vlad were still half human at that point unlike when young Dan did it where they were both full ghosts.

Yeah, Dan's origin is a mystery. What made him overshadow Plasmius? Did he want to kill Vlad using Plasmius and became a fusion by mistake?
And yeah, all Dan need is his Ghostly Wail to shatter her gems.

I figured from the get-go that Dan would have the advantage.
being ghost (and, a powerful one at that) there is little the Gems can do to him.
all it takes is one Ghost Wail directed at a gemstone,
and the battle would be over just like that.
Without a doubt..Dan Phantom is the BEST Fusion there is.

Normally I hope villain battles end in a double fatality but in this case , I HOPE HE BUTCHERS THAT SHE-BEAST!

Given that Dan is a ghost (fusion or not) he already has an advantage over Jasper,
as being a Gem (and, a Quartz at that) Jasper relies on brute, physical strength.
and, well..super strong punches, and high speed spin attacks
are worthless against a foe who can phase through solid objects at will.
Also, given that the only real way to kill a Gem is to 'shatter' their exposed gemstone..
Jasper is already screwed, as Dan's trademark Ghostly Wail CAN shatter most things on contact.
So, unless Dan is bored, and wants to toy with Jasper.
a fight between the two would be VERY short. making this duel rather 'one-sided'.

Be even sweeter if Dan led an army of Ghost composed entirely of the souls
of the billions of life forms killed following the destruction of planets that no longer interested the Diamonds.
We already know that the Homeworld Gems INVADE organic worlds,
harvest it's resources to created more Gems, and then destroys them once said resources are depleted.
It seems they have done stuff like this before SEVERAL times.
and, given that their can be billions on a single planet's population.
then, we are talking of an incalculated number of of mass genocides.
those are ALOT of angry, vengeful ghosts.
and, it wouldn't take much to convince them to help Dan destroy the Gem Planet.
