The purpose of THIS Sonic Fanart was humor, obviously.
When it comes to an Anthro-based Fanbase,
i am the type of fan who likes to look up the animals said Anthro is based on.
In this case, I once looked up Hedgehogs when I started becoming interest in Sonic in the 90s,
and, found that REAL hedgehogs are quite small, no bigger than a hamster.
It is built like a Porcupine,
but, unlike porcupine, hedgehog quills don't detach (usually)
Hedgehogs are also a type of "rodent"
making them in the same biological family as Mice and Rats (hence the nickname: "Needlemouse")
The object of this artwork was a WHAT IF Scenario..
What if Sonic found a "real" Hedgehog
(either on Planet Earth, or Planet Mobius far past.)
I can't imagine he'd be too impressed.
nor BELIEVE that he is descendanted from such a tiny creature.

It's worth noting that in an issue of the Sonic X comic book, Sonic actually DID encounter an actual hedgehog.
As expected, he was perplexed at the creature, and wondered where it's "Gloves" and "Shoes" were.

I've been "into" Sonic for YEARS..I just never got around to posting any Sonic Works.
I've actually been around since Sonic first appeared.
being born in 1989 (Sonic first appeared in 1991), I am nearly as old as Sonic is by now.
As a child, I grew up on 'AOSTH' which was on all the time on Toon Disney.
That pretty much where it all started for ME.

Sonic first came into my interests when I first made a YouTube account in 2007. I've written some Sonic fanfics which I later gave a series title "Sonic DA" or as I later refer to it as "Sonic the Hedgehog DA". I wrote fanfics based upon some deviations that did as well as including some characters invented by . My OC who appears in my TUFF Agents fanfic was originally born on Mobius who used a portal to get to TUFF Puppy's Earth like in that fanfic "Eli's Trials". You should read them at some point (The Sonic fanfics)

This artwork can also serve as a prime example on how Sonic isn't truly an Animal.
I mean, in this image: BOTH characters involved are technically Hedgehogs.
but, Sonic obviously wouldn't consider the "prickly hamster" to be of his own kind.
Clear proof that Anthros and Animals are TOTALLY Different.
