He indeed is a very cheeky guy :'D And I love drawing those a bit too much sometimes X'D 
You are correct I have wanted to make a little hint of colour shine through in all of the monochromes to keep them interesting I use overlay layers and luminosity on the darker parts of the design as well the lines may be a tad bit green as well since I find the line colours after shading ^V^
