Hi there!
I want you to know what I most liked about this draw of yours. I loved it so much!
I like the mirror in the background, how it looks old, and how it remembers me the mirror of the witch of that kids story of white snow and the 7 dwarfs (I think it’s this way in English, but not sure. I’m Portuguese, so if it isn’t well written forgive me).
I like the shelves on the background, full of dolls. It reminds me my own shelves when I was a kid, now dolls are replaced by books. But I understand it, the idea of an obsession, or also the type of girl that isn’t receiving love for her parents, because they are too busy, so she spends her days with a new doll today, and she leaves them quickly, because there’s nobody to play with her, so she stops being interested by them quickly, and her parents keep buying more and more dolls… and she’ll grow up to be a mean kid, egoist.
Or not! I don’t want to think that of her. She seems a bit mad to me, for being alone, or maybe because someone sent her to her room by punishment or any other reason, or maybe because her brother broke up another of her dolls, or maybe… well, so many maybes…
I want to believe more that she’s more sad and pensive than mad, and that she’ll grow up to be someone good, and don’t put her kids in the same frustrating situation where she’s into right now… but there’s something dark about her, like if her spirit it’s in a constant fight between darkness and brightness.
I love these antagonists thought I have about her, I love how the way you drew her and her playroom (or even bedroom detail) makes me stare at it for a long, loooong time! I wish I knew to drew that way… she looks a character from a story, or from one of my psycho dreams… I wish I could put my feelings into draw too.
I want to know, what’s her true story? I want to meet her, she puzzles me!
Anyway, keep up the excellent work!
Kisses,
Eloísa Valdes

Wow, thanks for this great comment! I like when people dig the story behind a drawing, and you have described the mood I wanted to obtain perfectly. Thanks again

i really like the effects of your technique...the dark shadowy-ness of it. It sets the mood somewhat, then the character and the body language of the character completes it. Great work!

you are so good with the washed ink technique! its just awesome! all those little dolls,. and her dress! the shading on her dress is so good! it just blends so well! do you use a bruch? and how many do you use? a range? like small to big...or do you mainly use small... cause the detail is so sweet!

Thanks
I use a brush for the washed ink indeed, mainly a size "2" watercolor brush. And sometimes a big acrylic brush (cause it's cheaper ) for the bigger parts. My main concern is to achieve a good balance between grey washed ink and black pen hatching

Good shading, the dark realy comes across your image.
Pretty good and somehow looks like an european comic book or book cover drawing.
