Nice work. I can imagine a library with the layout of a labyrinth.

That must have taken a long time. I like your use of shadows and light. Also your color and proportions.

It's interesting to read the comments here, and what people are reminded of... When I saw this, my first association was Alice in Wonderland (actually, McGee's Alice)

Kinda looks like general grevious is lurking in the library...

Oh, I love this. It reminds me of the mall monster and of nightmares I had when I was younger. The spiral staircases and tower bookshelf really give off a sense that the girl, and viewer, are so insignificant in this labyrinth of a library.

As a librarian, I approve this artwork.

But seriously, the watercolor is gorgeous! All that hard work was well worth it.

This is awesome, crazy maze like library. super creepy shadow library that really just wants to remind you to return your books or else. I think I want this library. Love the bookshelf in the middle with the cathedral windows not connected to an actual wall. Has a semi Escher feel too.

MichaelBrack In reply to RedRunner101 [2011-11-03 16:04:00 +0000 UTC]

Probably one of the librarian assistants... or maybe the librarian himself?

Maybe you should make a follow-up piece?

Read a little Fahrenheit 451 to make yourself feel better, then sit back and take a rest on some laurels. Great job.

I read it, but to be honest I didn't think of it when drawing this... Maybe it was some kind of unconscious inspiration?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SoraNAR In reply to MichaelBrack [2011-11-05 04:27:21 +0000 UTC]

hmm maybe its just because I had just barely finished reading it when I saw this >< either way I'm a huge fan of your work!!! ^^

She really reminds me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast [brown hair, blue dress, library setting...yeah] so it's fantastic! And the extra effort on the books really paid off.
