I agree with Matt on the texture. It does look a lot like wood, and chopped wood at that, with its many ring layers. I can honestly say, though, that I don't think the title works well with the image itself. A little bit of color variation (maybe some reds) might help here. Also, I'm seeing this as more of a warmer piece than bright as it is now. Am I missing anything else.....oh yeah.

Thanks. I managed to sort out access to my old Sourceforge account. Something is a bit flaky with either my PCs svn or the connection to Sourceforge, but eventually it is all working.
I've tidied up my old files a little, stuck the slow stuff in a personal area, and ready to get a few simple ideas coded in the next week or two.
Let me know if you set a date for the release, and I'll try to get stuff either obviously ready, or obviously not for release . . .

I agree that it looks like wood, nice effect, but i disagree that its boring, i rather like the contrast between the dark and light parts, on my monitor its perfect

Nice render, the pattern looks like wood a lot, but I can't but feel like the colors are too bright, yet boring at the same time. This piece needs some more energetic colors, along with a slightly more subdued color scheme.
