Hahaha great quest, I'll be looking forward to more reborn useless transforms. I never liked popcorn much either. This looks great though.

i love you sig! Us Canadian fractalists are evil

Thanks! I got the idea from talking to ~cyberxaos , most Canadian fractal artists I've encountered are actually evil....

i think all of them are, except for you and me, of course

Wow. The combination of swirls and diagonals and squares is very intriguing. Very original... I love it...

=O =O This is the first time I have ever seen a spiral that is actully square edges. The 'grooves' in the pattern give it a futuristic look and the colours fit like a glove. It also looks like the floor of a spaceship since you can see square tiles in it.

that's really cool. i can tell you like this color scheme ^_^ you use it a lot. it's a good color combo though. they are great contrast. the design is really cool. i love spirals

Thanks Cae! Yes, this is still my favourite colour scheme

this is a very cool design, I know what you mean about using variations that you thought were useless. I have recently found use for several variations that I thought were useless too.

Ah, very nicely done. Now I challenge you to use Cosine effectively. It's completely worthless in my experience.

cosine actually started all this. it is the stuff in the circles [link]

Fantastic image. Very interesting, I discover new things too and I have a image for upload with similar effects, but without Sinusoidal.

i didn't use sinusoidal either. this is popcorn like yours

Yeah! but seems that I have read on a replay to Tracey that you have used Sinusoidal. I made confusion.

i made the confusion. you were confused. i wasn't very clear

That's Apophysis!?
I think the actual design looks really good, maybe not the best as far as smoothness and quality are concerned, but the design is just so...different.

MichaelFaber In reply to Phoenix-22 [2006-10-01 04:54:58 +0000 UTC]
yeah, it's all apophysis
what do you mean by smoothness and quality?

Phoenix-22 In reply to MichaelFaber [2006-10-01 15:46:47 +0000 UTC]
Well, your artistic talents have spoiled the rest of us, so it seems a bit too contrasty, almost like the fractal has a little bit too low of a gamma setting, and it wasn't downsized enough.

MichaelFaber In reply to Phoenix-22 [2006-10-01 20:19:21 +0000 UTC]
the contrast you are talking about was added in PS. the original render i thought was too plain, so i spiced it up a bit. i'll post it into my scraps if you want to see it. as for the scalling down, i don't know what you're seeing there. the original render is 8100x5400 with already 2x oversample. the antialiasing that this image has is very close to 16x total

Yeah, I had a feeling you would have rendered it at your massive "kill-off-all-of-us-unlucky-people-who-have-256mb-of-RAM" settings.
Must be the contrast though.

Awesome! Do I see a sinusiodal transform in there?

I've got some similar results with popcorn, but never anything as good as this.

Thats surpising, i can see the transforms glass tiling, but the fractal itslef still looks like something from apo rather then uf, nice use of gradiant to mimic apo flames
