I feel bad for the pixels harmed in the watermarking process, tis an awesome fractal.

Unfortunately it is becoming quite neccessary

Looks like a pearl bracelet or necklace up-close.

It can also be some wierd futuristic building.

Nice work

Hahaha, isn't pollyalloy the liquid metal of the evil terminator in Terminator 2? I remember watching it and trying to figure out what the hell Arnie said. He pronounces it so crazily.

Absolutely beautiful image btw, loving the colours and of course the shapes!

Holy crud, that really does look like metal and jewels! I'm absolutely dying to get back into the fractals, because I can only make them when I'm at home during the summer. At college, I just have my Mac laptop.

Killer Julian(?) flame! I'd give my wisdon teeth to make a flame like this...if i still had 'em...

Too bad. I hope you got something else good for them.

Yes, JulaiN is correct

RyJek [2007-04-12 09:01:23 +0000 UTC]

Aw man, I'm so amazed.
Can't stop thinking how it was done.
Could I ask you to give just a brief set of hints?
Like the scripts used, I'll try to get to the rest by myself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MichaelFaber In reply to RyJek [2007-04-14 05:21:49 +0000 UTC]

There's no script for this. Scripting doesn't give visual feedback to the artist, so it isn't really useful to me. The main shapes are made with the JuliaN variation. There are also some other devious variations of my own in there

Wow, that is an amazing piece. I'm just getting into Apo, and the depth and complexity of your piece completely blows me away. I agree with ~MeddlerInc above... It really does look like a painting rather than a fractal. for sure!

They say if a monkey typed away randomly on a typewriter then eventually it will write a great masterpiece. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Sweet. I've seen another person do fractals like this just not as large...BTW: I wrote a util for Windows Vista (works for XP too) that let's me do individual and panoramics across multiple monitors so this image works perfectly with it. This thing looks great across my 3 monitors (had to rotate it tho) :-p Not too many images with these dimensions on DA (the multi monitor contest they ran earlier got almost all dual monitor entries). I'd love to see more wide-widescreen images like this hit DA for us lucky schmos that have more than 2 monitors. Thanks for posting this.

My god, didn't think one could achieve such a level of composition, color and intricacy with fractals!

I love it to bits,

How on earth do you do THAT with apophysis???

I simply love it. Grand Julians and related make such great subject matters, but I've never seen that wonderful blurring effect before.

The unusual blurred areas are created with the help of my own custom variation.
